I wonder how the Nevada authorities would dis-allow keeping count in your head?

It's not illegal to count cards...just 'frowned upon' by casinos. If you get caught you can't be arrested, they'll just ban you from the casino...and casino's have a list they share of known 'offenders'.

Was at Monte at the blackjack tables when some guy who was playing big amounts was approached by 'a suit', they asked for his ID. You'll notice there are computers at all the tables, they put in his ID number just to verify if he wasn't on the list. You can refuse of cause...but they'll 'politely' request that you leave. ;)

I'm so glad that only Apple products can be used to count cards...

WHEW!

Besides... card counting is easy. which is why Casinos go to extreme lengths to prevent the effective use of card counting. They change dealers often and use multiple packs (5+) to make the odds even out.

Ever since they introduced electronic card shufflers though, the rules changed. Some purists believe that the shufflers can scan each card and thus issue cards that can influence the outcome of the dealer's draw.

So at "high roller" tables the players "request" that they use the old shoe and old fashioned dealer to ensure that there's no funny business... after all, the casinos don't allow anyone to inspect the card shufflers and they "destroy" them as opposed to simply chucking them out.

I know because I've asked to get one for when we play poker at home... the commercially available card shufflers are nothing more than "card-flinger-togethers" which don't work at all!
No way...

Anyway...
Funny how its only the Apple products.
A simple calculator (available on most smart phones) could be used to count cards...
Or just keep count! its not that hard at ALL!
A simple technique is:
+1 for high cards
-1 for low cards
The lower the number in your head (or iPhone), the more high cards remaining in the shoe.

LOL - you still need to know what you're doing!

Casinos are all about cheating people out of their money. They really don't like the idea of a player evening the odds or, horror, shifting them to favour the player.
