iPhone development as a career?

I was also interested in getting in mobile dev due to the explosion of iPhone and Android. Market is only going to get bigger with iPad and Android for tablet. Apple still seems to have huge penetration though, particularly in tablets.

That being said, i think developing for Android is easier to get into as you can use your normal Windows pc/laptop without having to get a Hackintosh :-)

I think it's about time for the "don't forget about Windows Phone 7" post.
The tools beat the socks off the other platforms' and are also free, and you can stick with Windows.
Currently WP7 marketplace has grown faster than Apples and Androids - Although personally I think the growth of a marketplace only has a moderate relation to interest in the platform, but with Nokia coming on board I think device uptake could become very swift by the end of the year which == WIN for all us Silverlight and XNA devs :D

EDIT: woowh, just realised the thread is from almost a year ago!

Iphone application development can be taken up as a career and you could even earn a regular income for a longer period. So, if you are planning to opt for iphone application development as your carrier then do search online for the techniques available for the software development which might help you to develop the best applications for you.
