iPhone sales plummet

Apple Inc.’s iPhone shipments slid a bigger-than-projected 10% in the March quarter, reflecting flagging sales in China despite a broader smartphone industry rebound.

The company shipped 50.1 million iPhones in the first three months, according to IDC’s preliminary figures, falling shy of an average of analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg of 51.7 million units for the period.

Apple Iphones used to be at the forefront of innovation but now they merely scopecreep with each model while the mammoth pricing for them is far too much. Considering their markup is 300% per unit.

As for Xiaomi. Well Leica is far superior to anything Apple can bring to the party camera wise. Its like comparing Rolls Royce with a Corolla.

Not surprised really, times are tough all over, sexpensive phones are eschewed in favour of food and such.

why buy an idiotphone with nothing much else to offer besides the latest feature nobody needs, like dynamic island,

when for a third of the price you can buy a android phone that does the same thing.

Weird then that everyone copied their use of titanium.
Titanium seems to be the new trend for the most premium smartphone lineups. Apple introduced its latest iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphone with a titanium body, making it more durable and lightweight. After Apple, Samsung also recently launched the Galaxy S24 series with a titanium build. Now, Xiaomi is also reportedly planning to launch its flagship premium Xiaomi 14 Ultra with a titanium body.

They don't even feature in the top 10. The Leica branding is just some custom color filters.

Guys please, this is a thread for quality products and their related sales figures. Let's not involve Android and other such subpar products, they have no relevance here.

New premium androids in the same category of device are not 1/3 of the price of iPhones.

iPhone 15 128GB is about R20k on Takealot
Samsung S24 256GV is about R21k
So in the same ballpack, with Apple being a bit more expensive.

Honestly, moving from Android (Samsung A52) to an iPhone 11 (because I am cheap) last year, was the best purchase I have made in a while.

It is the small things the iPhone does that make it worth it IMO. Like it not having a panic attack when I need to connect a BLE device like my scale or heart rate monitor. Or being able to restore the volume of media when I get a notification whilst watching something on Youtube. As annoying as the walled garden is, having a tiny bit of quality control on the operating system actually shows. Google or Samsung don't give a fuk about bugs like these.

I am also reasonably confident that I can get a battery for the thing in a few years time when the battery eventually wears out.

Would I ever buy the newest iPhone? Nope. Marginal differences between their generations are really small.

Some okes are pretty obtuse and/or backwards here.

At the upper end of the scale Sammy's phones are like for like practically the same pricing wise vs the relevant iPhone.

It has been like that for a fair few years already.

The redpill is that their older phones are still premium devices, but they come at mid range price.

If you look for a mid range android, it is about R9500. Yet the iphone, which is a bit cheaper still signifcantly outperforms it.

And you get all the aformentioned benefits of having an OS that actually has a bit of quality control.

All my iphone11 has to do is last longer than 2 years and will be better value than my old A52 which upped off and died without any warning after 2 years.
