Does anyone know of a way to boost the cellphone signal on the iPhone 5 or any iPhone for that matter?

I know Poynting Antennas sell the ADPT-024 adapter for handsets, but I phoned them and they say it does not work for the iPhone's at all, as they have tested it. It works on all other handsets, except iPhone.

My problem is that I live in a low 3G coverage area and the iPhone 5 LOVES staying connected to the 3G network as much as possible even if there is the slightest little bit of 3G signal. Unfortunately when it only has 1 bar of 3G signal, I cannot do anything on the phone. Can't make calls, can't receive calls, can't load websites.

Previously with the iPhone 4/4S there was an option to disable 3G, so that the phone would drop down to 2G/GSM/EDGE signal, then at least I could make calls. But with the iPhone 5, they have since removed the option to disable 3G, instead replacing it with an option to disable LTE.

Most phones usually have an option under the network settings to select the preferred network, 2G / 3G / Dual (2G & 3G).

Does anyone think with the release of iOS 7 that Apple might have an option for network selection options?

I found this website - http://www.ubersignal.com/iphone-5-signal-boosters - which mentions a product called a Wilson Sleek, but unable to find someone locally that sells it.

They removed it?

That's iOS7 to be sure but I still had it in iOS6.

EDIT: I'm not provisioned for LTE so perhaps that's why it's not an option for me?

In the US, for example AT&T provides customers in low signal quality areas with a Microcell to solve these types of issues. So contact your cellular provider.

Yeah, it must be because you are not provisioned for LTE? But on my iPhone 5, I only have an option to "Enable LTE". I must maybe try that perhaps, request that they remove the LTE APN, reset my iPhone 5 to the iPhone APN and then reboot the phone to see if I get the option to then disable 3G instead?

I asked them to un-provision LTE on my SIM card and reset my network settings to the iPhone APN and reboot my phone. It still only shows "Enable LTE" option. I'm on iOS 6.1.4.

It could be that since you are on iOS 7 beta that the iOS release is not provisioned for LTE or something like that.
