My iPhone contract started on the 1st. I've had to use the internet APN until now as the default iphone.vodacom.za APN didn't work. I've tried it now and it still doesn't work.

Does it matter? Do I need to be on the iphone.vodacom.net APN for the billing to work correctly?

I'm on the contract with 120 minutes, 100 sms and 250 MB data.

Don't think it matters yet but call Vodacom and ask them to activate it on your sim, mine was activated automatically a few weeks ago though.
 
V3G, I hate calling call centres ... can I just leave it on internet?

No, that's the "iphone" APN as decreed by Vodafone.

Bio, the internet APN will work fine, but I find with my iPhone that iTunes keep on wanting to change it to the Apple APN if on internet.. So I switched to it just to keep iTunes from b!tching all the time.

Otherwise there's no difference. Might be in the future though.
 
Just worried I might get billed out of bundle, heavens forbid!

While I actually meant that I can arrange you get billed OOB, I've forwarded your details in any case and they should have sorted it out.

Nashua called and said I must use the internet APN as per instructions from Vodacom. Here's hoping ...

I have a 2.5Gb data bundle on contract.
The 1st sim is normal size and used in an acer netbook - configured to used internet APN
The 2nd sim is micro sim and used in an apple ipad -configured to used internet APN
The 3rd sim is a micro sim and I want to use it in an apple iphone4 - configured to use iphone.vodacom.za APN

Sim 1 and 2 currently are setup as multi sim and deplete the 2.5gb data bundle.

Sim 3 is also setup as a multisim.

Will sim 3 deplete the same 2.5gb data bundle if it is configured to use iphone APN?

Can sim 3 be configured to use the internet APN?

What is the difference between the internet APN and iphone APN?
 
SIM 3 will deplete the same bundle as SIM 1&2 even if you use the iphone APN.

Presently there is no difference between the internet APN and the iphone APN. Think of it as a place-holder should Apple eventually want offer different services via a custom APN.

Does not matter if you use the Iphone apn or internet one. They both do pretty much the same thing. Both will use data from the same data bundle that is linked to the main sim to which the multi data sims are linked to. You dont have to have sim 3 provisioned. All sims are provisioned with the internet APN by default. The iphone apn might need to be activated if it is not already.
