iPhone vs Android

I just took two pictures and one video and tried to send them to my son... what a schlep.
Whatsapp can't send photos
BBM can send photos but not videos - it also scales the images down
I eventually skyped them and emailed them... I'm not sure of the final result - whether they're intact or not.
I don't want to have to install iCloud everywhere just to share my photos.
Now that's one major frustration with iOS

Any suggestions?

You'll need to elaborate, Whatsapp has sent photos and videos since it came out. Do note that the quality is decreased. iMessage or email is better as the quality is retained.

The issue here is that, on android you can select pics or videos to send from gallery while on iOS you can only do so within whatsapp. iOS only has this option for sharing by email, Airdrop and iMessage

That must be the 'problem' then.

How is that an issue?

The only logical explanation is that it's from the OP's perspective.
iOS lets you send photos from the gallery for a multitude of apps so the only assumption I can make is it's a Whatsapp thing, not iOS.

For me Android is an open system with less security and lots of customisation. iOS closed system, very little customisation and nanny type security (we tell you what we want you to do). I have a Galaxy S5 now, coming from an iPhone 5. Enjoyed the tinkering for the first few weeks but now just use the phone, and only came back to Android because of the bigger screen. Looking to go iPhone 6 since they finally have a bigger screen and no SD card doesn't matter when you have 64GB onboard. That is much better than having to keep deleting those big apps and games since the phone memory is getting full but you have more than 20GB free on your SD card. Only thing I'll miss is the ease of transferring music and files via Bluetooth and easy downloading of pron.

BBM can send videos - and any other type of file too. And while it downsizes pics for fast transmission, you can select the pic and request a full resolution version.

Is this on the receiving side then? Or sending (I'll test as soon as I get a chance).

Thanks for that - I didn't see the arrow to the left - my Whatsapp has a camera on the right which allows you to take an image then and there - I assumed it would be where I would send images as well. When I used the link to the left, I could give access to my images to Whatsapp.

:) glad to help.

I am considering the 6, the plus is just too big for me.

I can share locations and all that in whatsapp too on iOS?

And by sharing location I mean my current one and a place I scroll to and pin down. Android doesn't offer the latter in its whatsapp? Whatsapp currently blocked here.

I used to have all S3 then a Nokia Lumia and now an iPhone 6.

Still getting used to the iPhone, but enjoyed the Lumia a lot and from a productivity perspective the Lumia was better. Still getting used to the iPhone, but I am enjoying the phone.

Yes iOS 8 opened that up. WhatsApp is slow to allow the functionality not ze Apple

Without a doubt. When I last checked a few months ago, Whatsapp was more advanced (more features) on iPhone than Android. Could be because iPhone received the overhauled Whatsapp first. Hope this clears up those worried about iPhone lacking... :wtf: :)
