iPhone Xs vs iPhone 11 Pro

Apple announced its latest range of iPhones on 10 September.

The new series consists of the iPhone 11 (the more affordable option) and the more expensive iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Not really worth the upgrade from the XS of course. But the extra battery life is amazing. 4-5 hours if true. Also the new camera looks good but we'll need to see how it stacks up to Huawei and Pixel 4.

No compare the the camera's of the Samsung, Huawei p30 pro, Iphone 11 Pro, then make the choice...

Nonsense - there is absolutely no good reason to upgrade from a Xs to an 11 Pro.

The design has basically not changed. Still a giant notch. The software is the same. The cameras are probably mostly identical (I'm sceptical about Apple's quality claims - the night mode shots on stage were horrifically blown out). The processor was already very powerful. Etc etc.

Much better to wait for the next iPhone, which will hopefully finally see a design refresh that doesn't look outdated.

Just realised the new iPhones don't have 3DTouch so I'll be keeping my X until it breaks.

Nobody who wants an iPhone cares about anything made by anyone else so the comparison is irrelevant.

Apple knows their target market too well.

"The iphone not only looks good but it takes great pictures of you holding it to post on Instagram".

My 7 does. (iOS 13.1)

Are you sure it’s actually 3D Touch and not just the simulated software version that everyone will have now? Remember everyone will get the same experience across the board now.

The differences are so subtle that it kind of proves you don’t need it in the hardware any more and it’s really much of a muchness.

Don’t have a 3D Touch phone with iOS 13 to compare myself, but I can test on my XR what behaviour I see.

By example...

But I should have worded it better, that it rather doesn’t matter as of iOS13.

Whether it’s initiated by hardware or software the result will be the same across devices and the experience universal.

Best of all it’s now available on iPad as well.

I don’t even see any reason to upgrade from my current crappy phone

I haven’t been following the 3D Touch happenings as I’m quite happy with the haptic touch on my XR, but if I understand you, is that now iOS 13 bringing back a long press menu a la 3D Touch but using haptic touch instead?

Fairly sure, this is what I have in my settings:

EDIT: Out of curiosity what does your 3D and Haptic Touch preference pane look like?

Is it 3d or haptic? Can you still drag the cursor by hard pressing? That's literally all I use it for but it's so useful I'd hate to lose it

I don't know what phone you have, but with haptic touch on my XR (12.4.1) you don't need to press hard, just a gentle touch activates.

Wait I see you can still use it with haptic touch by clicking the space-bar. But it doesn't work nicely with Gboard

But you can do that with space using the Haptic Touch.
