iPhone Xs vs iPhone 11 Pro

Fairly sure, this is what I have in my settings:

EDIT: Out of curiosity what does your 3D and Haptic Touch preference pane look like?

Sorry like I said I should have phrased it better.

The hardware activation isn’t being disabled, but the support becomes the same across the board in software basically.

I don’t have any such menu.

I haven’t been following the 3D Touch happenings as I’m quite happy with the haptic touch on my XR, but if I understand you, is that now iOS 13 bringing back a long press menu a la 3D Touch but using haptic touch instead?

Correct.

All the phones will have the same system, just means of activation differs slightly but it ultimately “feels” the same for all.

And it’s a big win for everyone as this wouldn’t have happened if 3D Touch didn’t get killed off and it’s making a major change to the iPad that never had any kind of “right-click” menu.

Nonsense - there is absolutely no good reason to upgrade from a Xs to an 11 Pro.

The design has basically not changed. Still a giant notch. The software is the same. The cameras are probably mostly identical (I'm sceptical about Apple's quality claims - the night mode shots on stage were horrifically blown out). The processor was already very powerful. Etc etc.

Much better to wait for the next iPhone, which will hopefully finally see a design refresh that doesn't look outdated.

The journos with hands on time seemed to be going nuts for the Night Mode.

Still not near enough reason to upgrade.

Besides, the iPhone 11 is the new headliner.

The Pro is really the niche product now.

Turning 3D Touch off and only using Haptic Touch doesnt allow popping Whatsapp messages and it feels like **** compared to actual 3D Touch.

Sweet. I really only used the 3d touch on my 6s and 8 for the same thing I use it now, i.e. cursor placement, but it'll be nice to play around with these features again :)

I don't think so. The 11 will sell more but the Pro has a big audience still. I will only get the Pro. It'll feel like going backwards to get the 11.

I think the branding is stupid though; there's nothing about the Pro that sets it apart from the previous mainline iPhone models. The iPad Pro had Pencil support and it was 12", so it could justify the Pro name.

Can you explain? What are popping WhatsApp messages?

This?

I’ve always felt 3D Touch requires a bit too much pressure/effort and why many forget it’s there.

Haptic Touch feels more natural.

But I can understand if you had one thing then the change is hard.

I mean in the sense that they announced it last.

Unlike last year they’ve learn and realise it’s not going to be the big seller, which is why the 11 is now more fuller features and better priced.

It’s why the Pro branding makes sense as it tells “normal” people you really don’t need this phone and the other one is more than good enough.

The 11 bit is stupid though, there I agree.

It’s so weird that Apple have never put numbers to any of their other products ever, but the iPhone gets it in spades. It’s so out of place actually.

But like you say it would be a downgrade if you are already on a existing “pro”. But this will be the marketing language for many years going forward now.

No not that, in Whatsapp I can press on a chat and read it without opening it. With Haptic I can only view a small portion of the message.

To you. To me and everyone else that uses the feature we feel otherwise.

I guess I’d need to see it being used or explained, because to me it sounds like it would actually take longer to access than just opening up the chat.

One of the biggest upgrades to the new iPhone pro is the display, it’s a lot brighter so should be better outdoors, also uses less power. The galaxy s10 already has this tech.

I’d like an iPhone with an amoled display but they’re so expensive! My 6S still working nicely ha

Its as quick as opening the chat and lets me read it without the sending knowing I read it, that's the point I'm trying to make. It allows me to decide whether or not the message is worth an immediate response beyond a 3-5 line view and it also lets me see photos without blue ticking.
