Iphone5 --> S4 --> P6 --> S4 --> S5

Well the few people here who recognizes my username will know I’m no fan of of Android/Samsung, there have been a few threads I have started slating Samsung and androids poor performance against IOS.
Let me give you a very brief history: I had a Iphone 5 for 2 years, end of that I swopped it for a Samsung S4, The S4 was slow and sluggish, multiple apps would freeze/crash at random times, rubbish battery, touch screen was slow and inaccurate, it was just not an overall pleasurable experience.
Then I though the problem must be touchwiz or perhaps the specific device, so I got a Huawei P6, not a much better experience, basically the same problems as above with the S4, plus the GPS did not work, then took the companies S4 and guess what, exactly the same problems as the first S4.
So after all this I decided back to Iphone 5 for me, placed an order with Telkom mobile for the iphone5s, waited 4 weeks and decided to cancel the contract since it was getting ridiculous waiting for a phone for a month with absolutely 0 feedback.
But this left me with the problem that I still needed a phone, so I went against everything inside me, and I got a Samsung S5.

I have been working on the S5 a few days now, and im extremely impressed with the phone, there is absolutely no lag at all, not a single app crash this far, scrolling through photos has no lag, scrolling facebook there is no stutter. Camera is fast, display is amazing, Touchscreen/keyboard is super accurate and fast. Internet is fast, everything just seems to work. The build quality is obviously not as good as Apple/Huawei, but a big improvement over the plastic flimsy S4. This phone has definitely restored my faith in Samsung and Android.

So ja, coming from an Apple fan, the S5 is definitely a worthy device, the only fault I could really find with the phone is the fingerprint scanner, it works but 90% of the time you have to swipe more than once. Really loving the S5 :love:

Absolute bollocks.
 
From an android perspective, you should try a Nexus device. The rest just don't compare. Only issue would be that you cant get nexus devices locally unless they are grey imports, which doesn't suit everybody.
 
The P6 is what half or a 3rd of the price of the S4 and S5 so I would call it a bargain and in some areas like build quality it surpasses the S4. I would definitely go with Huawei for my next device and looking forward to the P8's launch this week. I was at a Samsung repair center last week and seeing the 100+ a week phones that were booked in for repairs for the week was astonishing.

When you go to MTN and ask for a iPhone 5c or 5s, all they will tell you is that they are out of stock. They don't offer any further assistance, they even suggest that if you want to follow up, you need to call head office yourself.

100+ repairs from hundreds of thousands of sales isn't too bad to be honest. At least Samsung actually have repair centers for their products whereas you are stuck using your service providers repair centers for all the other handsets.

I still use my S4 for now. Despite everybody and their dog complaining about perceived build quality mine is still 100%. The cover that I have on hides the plastic that everybody complains about.

What you're referring to is plastic wear and tear. Of course it'll be 100% if you treat it carefully and/or keep it in a cover. As far as build quality goes, Galaxy phones have never had it, we all agree on it.

What do you see as shoddy build quality? Not having a Apple logo on it?

Bull****? You must be being sarcastic.

It is a fact that Samsung make lower quality / build quality devices. Apple and Huawei/Sony make higher quality / build quality devices, in that order.

Just because your plastic has not worn, does not mean there cannot be a perceived lack of build quality of the S4/Samsung/etc. It has no bearing on build quality whatsoever. It's like saying a plastic Casio has good build quality compared to a metal Seiko, because the plastic has not worn. A ridiculous argument.

Some plastics can be implemented well, but it's certainly no premium metal/aluminium. Finally those getting the S6 will have something decent.

So build quality depends entirely on materials? I think delusional might be a better description.

The Iphone6 is a little pricey yeah, no doubt it will be my next phone though. I had the S5 next to the Iphone6 this weekend, even though the S5 is brilliant, the Iphone 6 is better, Camera is faster, pictures looks better, Slow motion is better, apps and games loads faster and the overall feel is just much better.
But considering price (secondhand), I can literately buy 2 S5's for the price of one Iphone6 :p

Yeah look the P6 is a much cheaper device, and performance wise its on par with the S4, the P6 feels like a much more premium device, the GUI is much better than that of Samsung. But the GPS issues, lack of firmware updates and the fact that no lollipop is being developed for it is just a total let down.
I have only heard great things about the P7
