You know what p1ssed me off, one of my friends who I directed to the deal ordered the device 1 day prior to me, he received his device in the same damn week, when i call they tell me they have "system issues".....

Yeah the ADH and multiple repair centers is a big plus. Try getting your Huawei's GPS fixed....:p

It depends on materials as well as their implementation. Metal certainly helps and is one of the best gauges of quality. It is delusional to think an S4 has good build quality, given the overwhelming consensus about Samsung devices/Galaxy phones, with their premium price and lesser build quality as a fact.

I'm delighted that your S4's plastic has not worn, I would expect it to not have given the price point. But we already know it's a poorly built phone with inferior materials, in comparison with others.

Facts can be proven. Delusional ramblings from your walled garden of delight sounds like sour grapes.

One needs no more than to hold the various devices in their hands in order to know. Facts have already been proven, and that is that Apple and other Android manufacturers make better quality devices. It is not up for debate. Accept it instead of showing your true ugly colours, and stay on track. To remind you, we're comparing the build quality of devices, not the OSes/ecosystems.

Agreed. I'm glad you bought it second hand. That's what's great about Androids for second hand buyers, they depreciate as much as PC parts.

Conversely, Apple devices are better investments from a loss point of view. Much less depreciation. So you will benefit from this when you're back.

That's why i went the S5 route,
I only had R3500, for R3500 i could get a normal 16gb iphone 5, 32gb if i was pushing it. I wanted the 5s at least and the cheapest i could get was R4500. So i got a S5 for R3500 which is exceptional value.
The S5 is still R9999 at the samsung shop
The 5s is R7999 at the Istore

So after all this I decided back to Iphone 5 for me, placed an order with Telkom mobile for the iphone5s, waited 4 weeks and decided to cancel the contract since it was getting ridiculous waiting for a phone for a month with absolutely 0 feedback.
But this left me with the problem that I still needed a phone, so I went against everything inside me, and I got a Samsung S5.

I have been working on the S5 a few days now, and im extremely impressed with the phone, there is absolutely no lag at all, not a single app crash this far, scrolling through photos has no lag, scrolling facebook there is no stutter. Camera is fast, display is amazing, Touchscreen/keyboard is super accurate and fast. Internet is fast, everything just seems to work. The build quality is obviously not as good as Apple/Huawei, but a big improvement over the plastic flimsy S4. This phone has definitely restored my faith in Samsung and Android.

So ja, coming from an Apple fan, the S5 is definitely a worthy device, the only fault I could really find with the phone is the fingerprint scanner, it works but 90% of the time you have to swipe more than once. Really loving the S5 :love:

Sorry only noticed the 3500 statement now. You mentioned cancelling a contract, so assumed a contract was an option

By the way your S5 performance will improve in a few months. The next update will have a lighter version of touchwiz and you will be able to change the appearance of touchwiz via themes

I'm still waiting on you to prove these facts. There is a big difference between materials and build quality. Something could be built from titanium and still have a bad build quality the same way that something could be built from plastic have good build quality. Build quality to me means how well the phone is put together, do the buttons fail, are there gaps between the screen and the body etc. All I hear from you is your own Apple shaded opinions that you put forth as facts.

And yes, it is up for debate. Believing something that you write yourself doesn't make it a fact.

Basically, it's something that most people can immediately tell when picking up a device/feeling it, and using it for a short period of time.

I'm glad that Samsung are making better quality devices in the S6, as I'm sure many others are who have criticised Samsung build quality in the past.
 
Amazing how people (and the press in general) perceives the modern plastic alloy type Samsung phones to be inferior to the metal and glass type phones....yet it seems like th3 glass and metal phones are always the ones that end up scratched and cracked. Seen many a cracked and scratched iphone.

100+ repairs a day per service centre, not counting how many broken Samsung devices are probably sitting in retail stores, peoples drawers, etc waiting to be fixed, around the country or the world is still a lot of repairs.

In my view the ADH warranty is a gimmick to cover Samsung's mistakes. I had my Galaxy Note 3 power button repaired after a Samsung technician had not seated it correctly and because it broke in my hand (button collapsed) when I took it home I had to use up one of my ADH warranty's for accidental damage yet it was not my fault.

I don't think anyone would deny that plastic is more hardy than glass/aluminium. I think what you're describing is that some people just don't really care about the condition of their phones.

Agreed, not to mention that aluminium blocks the signal and is heavier.
 
If anyone thinks that the S4 has a good build quality, I want whatever they're smoking.
 
Also the experience with KitKat onwards is horrible.
Coming from two different users on Nexus devices running KK & Lollipop.

Why do you say it doesn't have good build quality. Has any buttons broken off? Has the phone fallen apart? Or do you also just not like the plastics they used?

It's marketed as a premium phone but it feels far from premium. They should learn a thing or two from Sony or LG.
