Iphone5 --> S4 --> P6 --> S4 --> S5

Why not? It doesn't take much. And the clarification spares us from using incorrect terminology.

No one has though. But we do know what the generally accepted usage of 'build quality' means.

Build quality? No. Perceived quality? Sure, maybe. Haven't really compared them that closely, tbh.

Dunno why Samsung doesn't use higher quality plastics. Margins, I guess.

I haven't noticed any substantial build quality difference between any of the major manufacturers, tbh. Perceived quality has a big gap, though.

It sounds like you do notice a difference in build quality between Samsungs and other plastic Androids, then. ;)

I think the internet should just change the meaning of build quality to build materials since they are exactly the same thing according to PostmanPot.

No, not really. Sounds more to me like you use the term disingenuously so that you can whine about Samsung's "poor build quality" when in reality it's not the case.

They are not the same thing when the term is analysed, like many other terms. Just like 'uncapped' internet, you'll find some people applying the literal meaning of the word meaning 'eat as much as you can', to its use in business practice.

Build quality/build materials are closer to being the same thing when using the 'build quality' term loosely, which most people do, especially when comparing the perceived overall quality of devices. When used, generally speaking, it does not imply durability/toughness, or that it was well-assembled. It generally implies materials used, assembly, design/shape, feeling in one's hand, etc. - that which can be perceived, upon first glance if you will. All of these combine to form the commonly understood term, 'build quality'.

Durability/toughness and assembly are mostly separate. Most people do not intend on dropping/mistreating their devices, so it's a non issue. People want something that feels good in the hand. Sure, if you're prone to drops and/or need ruggedness, then obviously plastic is more durable. That has nothing to do with build quality though, it's a property of plastic, and things made of plastic generally need to be quite special in order to be perceived as having good build quality.

I wouldn't be surprised, because there are plenty of people who are unhappy with it. Are you suggesting they're wrong? Or do you merely want them to use the correct terms when describing what they don't like? Good luck.

The other Android manufacturers have much better build quality (used in the general sense), that is the bottom line here.

Perceived quality? Sure. Some people like metal phones more than plastic ones, more news at 11!

Actual build quality? Nope.

Metal is the ultimate as the S6 is starting to catch up and show; it's what people want. Some people prefer better build quality plastic phones than lower build quality ones. (Note: build quality without considering assembly, or durability which is generally obvious when it's plastic).

Yes. The general opinion amongst those interested is the same.
