IPL 2017

DA Warner! He did it again. 126 runs from 59 balls. 10 fours, 8 sixes, 213.55 strike rate!

David Warner brought out all his typical T20 shots - the lofted drive, pulls, cuts and switch-hits - along with a trademark celebration to raze Kolkata Knight Riders' bowlers

David Warner is one of the most destructive T20 players, not only because of the range of strokes he possesses but also because of his execution of those shots. A full and wide delivery is an invitation to go over the infield, a length delivery allows him to angle the bat face to hit gaps square on either side of the wicket. He does pretty much whatever he wants with spin anyway. The power he generates in his pulls and cross-batted strokes - the conventional sweep and switch-hits - doesn't leave bowlers with too many back-up plans to go to.

Against a strong bowling line-up, Warner brought them all out. He raced away to fifty off just 20 balls, in the fifth over of the innings. It took him an additional 23 balls to move to his third IPL hundred. A trademark Warner celebration ensued, a skip and a jump with his helmet in his left hand. He finished with 126 off 59 balls with 10 fours and eight sixes, paving the way for another Sunrisers Hyderabad defense.

So the 2 games in a row I get the result spot on, schumi does so too

Nice playing schumi ;)

both games could have gone either way , its just luck that I got it right

I hate how I got 5 out of 6 games right and did not even get the yellow cap.
I think we have reached the stage of the tournament where the real points will be going to the people who get the score spot on, or the people that get the really difficult pics right.

the bottom of the log clashes, and the top of the log clashes are the ones giving me trouble.
DD vs GL.
both teams suck and cant really win. who do you pick? I went for the team wiht the MVP of the tournament (Morris still sitting on top of that race hey?)

KKR vs RPS
both teams are really really good.
both teams sitting on top of the log.
the real question there is will Tahir stifle runs, or will Gambir, Uthapa and Narine run away with the game?
who will win the toss? because PRS is better at chasing then KKR is, by a teeny tiny margin.

A widening crack in the de Villiers facade
http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2017/content/story/1095634.html
A once seemingly impervious T20 batting machine has encountered an increasingly common amount of difficulties at the hands of Krunal Pandya.

There were instances in the early part of AB de Villiers' career where he was continually harried by pace. A Shaun Tait thunderbolt ricocheted off a bottom edge into de Villiers hip during a T20 international at the MCG in 2009, the pain so excruciating that de Villiers fell back towards his stumps to be out hit wicket before writhing on the ground in pain.

Then came his struggles in Tests against Stuart Broad, who has dismissed him 10 times, the most by any bowler in the five-day format. Broad's nagging length around off stump and his ability to move the ball both the ways constantly threatened both of de Villiers' edges. Eight of his 10 dismissals against Broad have been a result of him being beaten on either edge. In between, he dominated almost all other bowlers in all formats, up until 2016.

Cut to April of last year and the seeds are being sown for a new vulnerability of the seemingly impervious de Villiers.

Other bowlers have struggled to improvise against de Villiers, but Krunal hasn't had to because of his flawless execution. De Villiers banked on a subsequent error - in line, length or pace - if he managed to put Krunal off his length. That has been de Villiers' successful process against several accurate bowlers in limited-overs cricket, and it has worked to devastating effect. In a bid to force Krunal into a mistake, de Villiers has tried to go inside-out over cover or heave over midwicket at some point in each of his four dismissals to Krunal.

A longer format allows de Villiers to suss out the consistency of a bowler by looking for other options, but T20 cricket doesn't afford that luxury. De Villiers succeeded for a few balls on Monday, but Krunal, aware of his limitations and de Villiers' intent, backed his own successful method.

Use of the word "facade" seems rather ott though!

Some near miss and wannabe serious injuries all happening in tonight's edition of the IPL: KKR vs RPS

1. Coulter-Nile wears a bouncer from Dan Christian on his visor. Real snorter of a delivery. I reckon he first had ambitions of pull/hooking it for a 4 and then realised it was coming onto him too quickly. Hit Coulter-Nile bang on the visor. Would have smashed into his nose had the visor not held. Really nasty!

2. Next over Ben Stokes and Steve Smith both running to try take a catch on the boundary. Running toward each other. Neither realised another fielder was running to attempt the catch. BANG!!! Smith came off second best in what could have been serious injury to 2 quality and vital players for the RPS.

Fortunately none damaged ... except perhaps the pride of Stokes and Smith :p

Doing what they can to foster stronger Anglo-Australian ties! Their respective governments should be proud :p

Seems we are all in great company on the IPL Quiz? :D:p
