IPv6 Roll Out

I've had to implement ULA (Unique Local Addresses) on my local network in order to access my Pi Hole, for example, on IPv6. So essentially every device on my network has 2 IPv6 addresses, a GUA (global unique address) issued by the ISP, and ULA issued only from my router that never changes.
Ok but the ULA is not globally routable, right? So if I want to access something inside my network from outside, I still need to have a static prefix from the ISP.

Correct, you can think of a ULA as a private IPv6 address. Just like with private IPv4 addresses, there is a dedicated space that you should use when generating ULA addresses. This tool is very helpful:

Hi, Is this avilable on Vuma yet?
I can see this on my router:
WAN IP address XXX:fXXX:1300::133/128

Does it mean i am enabled already?
I am very new to ipv6....trying figure this out

Seems as if you have some connection on the router. What do you see on the router lan interface, and your pc

Are there plans to bring out an update for the AX3 to enable IPv6 passthrough through DHCP WAN connections?
ok after fiddling around with this for most of my friday night....(yes i have nothing better to do...lol)
I think this is why, what i am trying to do isn't working.

I see my server is getting a public ipv6 ip address....but how can i use it with the AX3 router?

Ipv6 is enabled for Vuma Reach and Vuma gpon. It's not available for Vuma active ethernet yet.

sorry maybe it's a stupid question....how do i know what vuma am i on?

If you have a Calix or Huawei ONT that has a PON, Broadband or service light it's Vuma Gpon.

If you have a Huawei or Raycore CPE that has a Fx light that is Active Ethernet. The Huawei for Active Ethernet is grey in colour.

Ok i do have calix, and i do get an ipv6 address.
Is it possible to forward traffic to a specific machine with the AX3 router?
or do i need to plug in my MikroT for something like that (i think i saw a script somewhere).

The Huawei AX3 will do the prefix delegation automatically for you to all the devices that is connected to it.

If you are using a second router then unfortunately it doesn't support IPv6 passthough.

I can see my server is getting an ipv6 address, but how do i allow port 443 on it?
i assume the AX3 is blocking it...?

Unfortunately the AX3 doesn't have such a great firewall. It's either on or off which means you would need to switch it off and use a firewall on all your devices to protect them.

I actually did try it last week but couldn't get my webserver up on ipv6, will give it another try later thanks.

@AfriNatic the above is important to me seeing I want to migrate to Afrihost. I have openserve fiber. Is it possible to get a static prefix?

Sorry missed this.

We don't offer static prefixes currently. The aim was to roll out IPv6 as fast as possible and since we already had the DHCP side of things sorted the rollout happened quickly after that. While we are still working on getting everyone on IPv6 we might consider static Ipv6 allocations at a later stage.

Or, use another competent firewall/router e.g. pfsense, and use the AX3 as an access point only.

Has anyone got experience with Huawei AX3 in access point mode behind your own router?
- can you still mesh them if you have more than one (without wired backhaul to remote ap's)
- can you create more than one wifi network and assign each to a different VLAN?
- anything else to take note of?

Thanks
