IPv6 Roll Out

@AfriNatic Quick question, what is the prefix size for frogfoot ipv6? I set it to 64 and it works fine like that, but just want to make sure it is correct.

Hi AfriNatic, eventually found the thread. I've tried setting it up this side Afrihost/Openserve but ipv6 still not working. Using the Dlink Afrihost router. Created the dual stack etc. but nothing yet. Does it take time before it activates?
Update: Sorted, seems to be working now! Awesome! What happens now? Do I get better pings? Free jelly beans? Custard tarts?

Great. You can be one of the lucky 10 that wins the free fibre.

For now Ipv6 is used to improve YouTube due to the ongoing congestion issues from Google in JHB.

Anyone got a decent guide to get this working on MikroTik? I'm running a hAP ac2 with RouterOS 7.1.5. I saw a pastebin floating around (https://pastebin.com/d28aZZe4) but it's from a little while back an I don't understand exactly what it's doing. I'm with OpenServe, so I know the prefix needs to be 60 so that looks right.

I have the DLink (orange gui) with Openserve that I got from Afrihost.

and no matter what I try, I cant seem to get IPv6 to work. My 6-to-4 tunnel with HE.net does work though.

Hi Afrinatic,

I received the sms from Afrihost, and running via Openserve. I am using a Netgear Orbi RBR50 and have set the IPV6 to PPPOE but the router is showing IPv6 is not available. Any advice?

Thanks,

Hi,

We use DHCPv6 not PPPoEv6 for Ipv6.

I read this on the Afrihost site, assumed Openserve must be set to PPPOE?

So with Ipv6 we use DHCPv6.

What router do you have?
I have a Netgear Orbi. I have changed the connection type to DHCP under the IPv6 settings, however it is still showing IPv6 Address Not Available

What other options do you have under IPv6? Can you set the address type to DHCPv6?

Thanks.

Did the 5min reset of both ONT and router now, still showing IPv6 not available.

Did anyone successfully set up IPv6 on an Edgerouter X? I am hoping to maybe do this via config tree. Really don't feel like using the set up wizard again; got everything working perfectly.

YouTube has been horrific the last week and with Afrihost saying only option for now is switching to Ipv6, I might as well try this before switching to VPN.

Thanks.

I get the same here with a Netgear R7800, same settings. I get no Ipv6 connectivity.

@AfriNatic I have the option of "Auto Detect in the Ipv6 settings. When enabled, it shows:

LAN Setup
Router's IPv6 Address On LAN
2002:a900:5697:0................:fef6:b511/64

(I have taken out some digits from the IPv6 adress for security)

Not sure what this means, but the IPv6 website shows no IPv6 connection available.

Thanks.

FWIW it took a couple of days for ipv6 to reflect. Maybe even earlier as I haven't manually restarted the session in that time, it just showed up one day.

Although also Afrinatic has advised that new OS accounts are provisioned after a certain amount of time.
