Hi

This hasn't realy got anything to do with Sentech, but (almost)all my devices on my PC is sharing the same IRQ (IRQ17). Included is my Soun card and USB Controller which controls my MyWireless mode. Now I'm having sound problems where I get choppy and scratchy sound when other devices like my CDrom work.

Will this affect my downloads as well? If it interferes with the sound card(on board) why won't it affect all the devices?

As far as google searches go, you cant change the IRQ, you have to reinstall your operating system. [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]
I'm not going to do that to fix my sound, but if my Internet is also affected...

What I did try to do was to modify the INF for my sound card driver and specify the IRQ, but this didn't work. Anybody tried and succeeded in doing something like this before?

I'm asking these questions here because the Mywireless Forum consists of the smartest people on the Internet[:D]

Thanks all

What OS are you running?

yes, ACPI computers dont need IRQ's. Welcome to the year 2000

of course if you're still living in 1998, then you're going to experience the lame bugs of Windows 98... *cough*

Can't help you there...not like the old IRQ steering - can one not try to shuffle some IRQ's in the BIOS?

Like i said. You dont need to, your problem is most likely elsewhere.

This IRQ sharing is quite normal, since most PC's only have 16 IRQs, and thus should work perfectly.

Try updating the sound drivers. "Windows Update" may pick up a newer driver, or download drivers from the motherboard manufacturer, or directly from the VIA download site http://www.viaarena.com . You will need to know which chip set is used on your motherboard to download the right version.

Could also be the Video card - some drivers for video cards are notorious for hogging the resources to obtain better benchmark performance ratings for themselves. NVIDIA drivers can be found at http://www.nvidia.com .

If you're running an AMD board, with an onboard sound blaster chipset you need a patch for the VIA PCI Bus Latency bug.
