This weekend I was pulling my hair out with this!
What I did was plug my 3g modem into my PC so that I can share my 3g with my wireless devices at home (ADSL not working at the moment).
So I logged into me router, turned off DHCP, and pointed it to my PC a Default Gateway. Then using ICS I shared the connection
Everything worked 100%!
So yesterday I needed to connect things back the way they were and this is where I'm still stuck. I did a hard reset on my router (because I'm lazy to change all the settings back manually
), but now I can't log into it
The problem is this. The PC is still trying to dish out IP's and I have no idea of where to disable this (this is a win 7 machine). This causes problems, as because I had reset the router (in default mode my router's DHCP is enabled). So both are fighting to hand out IP's.
I can't log into my router with either of my wife or my tabs because the devices use the IP's assigned to them by the PC and not those the router gives out. This means I'm on a different subnet from the router so I can't connect to it.
The IP address on the PC itself appears to be a WAN address. I think it keeps the last address it got when I went online - when I go online again it gets a different one then retains it as well.
Any ideas?
