The same weird thing happened to me in Dec that's happened to everyone else.
My torrents went from 5Kb / sec to 50Kb, so the net result is that I have downloaded 43Gb so far.

Can Iburst do anything to me ?

Well I would imagine the traffic reports would show a red mark next to your username but lets hope they're too busy sorting out the tower outages they've been having of late :D

Doubt if they will do anything to you now,

They once tried disconnecting subscribers who used up a certain amount of bandwidth and received a lot of flagging from most of the users.

If anyone can download that much then the problem is iBurst's problem if their dumb bandwidth manager allows it.
Normally some of us get the cap of death because of the useless BW manager, it's about time they got that thing sorted out except they probably don't have a clue how to fix it.

MrH, do you think that iBurst will charge those who went, say waaaayyy over their monthly limit in December? Maybe taking away their January bandwidth or something?

GBM, They can't charge for something you never requested, and it's not the users problem if the bandwidth monitor is up the creek.

Worst they could do is cancel your contract but somehow I don't think they'll go that route.

The other route is to make the system hardcapped but then they will lose many customers as a lot of users are only with iBurst because of the 64kbps after cap.

Ja, it would be a pity if they decide to do so in the future. If I'm not mistaken, iBurst is the only broadband company that isn't hard-capped, right?

GBM, I'm not 100% sure about them been the only ISP offering that as I seem to remember one offering uncapped local after reaching the limit.
But iBurst's 64kbps international/local after cap is a big plus in drawing customers and if they change or drop that offer they will lose many customers for sure.
Removing that will be one of the biggest mistakes they will ever make.

So you get 3GB a month and once u reach the cap u get dropped to a bit faster than dialup speed? How much does this all cost? Like R600 the last time i checked...

R600 is a bit high but the 64kbps is handy for browsing/email etc., besides it is mobile and that is another great plus as far as I'm concerned as I do use it in other places besides my house.
Right now I'm busy fitting out my minibus with an inverter/ups/generator for when I do traveling, that is something you can't do with adsl.

I guess it all depends what your internet needs are.;)

If they remove the 64k cap and make it hard cap... then I for one would be cancelling my iburst.

As for downloading 45gigs... nothing wrong with that... just as long as you don't get teh CAP of DEATH! BTW I hope you not using the Hyde Park Tower cos you prob using up all my BW :(

My connection has been atrocious as of late :(
