Is ADSL still being sold?

Yep you can still get it from telkom directly.

Moved into new place about close on three months ago and it was installed in 10 days. 3 weeks ago I got the SMS saying that it would be phased out.

They......the ****ing savages stole copper in folks neighborhood few days ago. Today when they went to TELKOM store to complain and ask what was going on they said they would not be replacing. It is a very real problem, but I have my suspicions that they might be using it as an excuse to fast track phasing out of ADSL network.

Kicker is TELKOM say they don't have any products to service area like LTE for example. We not talking "Putsonderwater" either. They're in the North of Pretoria. So now TELKOM loose fixed line subs plus ADSL subs because the locals want to help them selves to a five finger discount. I actually feel sorry for the company to some degree but talk about poor planning.

Sympathies. People all over South Africa are having their Telkom copper services terminated. There are lots of forum posts about it, reflecting disbelief, anger, confusion, and humour. A search of the forums for Telkom copper will bring up a list of many of these posts.

Fortunately, there are alternatives to Telkom. Good luck in replacing your Telkom services.

Yes and no, for some areas where the copper is still functioning they will sign you up but they will offer your their Telkom LTE first.
