Is any1 else having issues with nextgennews?

My downloads are failing+missing blocks, speeds arent stable(sometimes below 100kbps)and i received an error message on SABnzb saying port 443 disconnecting.Tried different ports but have the same issues.

Haven't had any issues. Try contacting them, excellent feedback when I had issues few months ago.
 
You should always try and buy a block account from a different provider to get missing blocks.

I would recommend an eu server, they are not so quick on the take downs.

Nope. With Nextgen, blocks should not be necessary for the most part....they already cover Astra and Giga back ends so you'd have to search pretty hard to find a block account adding value. The only other *true* self hosted NS back-end besides astra and giga is the US wind(*something*) one ...forgot the name. (Don't think you can even buy that SA side...)

In short...if next gen is failing then you can be pretty sure the server is not the issue. Pick different NZB source...the one you have is burned. Nextgen works...if it doesn't...cut your losses and approach this from an entirely different angle.

Well, both astra and giganews are primarily us based. Do you know for sure that next gen is using the eu servers as well? Having a Dutch nntp, even just as a block, makes a massive difference imo.

Tho honestly I had never heard of next gen before today and their prices look good so I may give them a go. I still waiting for the confirmation email tho :/

Edit: there are two other us core usenet servers, highwinds and readnews. The big problem with them all is that they have automatic take down procedures. The Dutch servers are a more manual process so it takes longer.

Do yourself a huge favour and do what I did when this happened to me, sign up a free for life account with xsusenet.com - they are epic, and I have NEVER not been able to complete a NZB.
Also, what application are you utilizing to get the NZB files, is is automated or are you getting it manually ?

I find that because of my entire system being automated, I get the file the moment it gets released and it then gets downloaded before takedowns

Thanx for the advice.Uhm cough...some of my freeware software updates are old as in up to 5 years ago.I do it manually,i am still pretty much new to nzb so still figuring things out.I use Sanzbd and usenetcrawler most of the time.I haven't been having issues with nextgennews,it has only been a recent issue.

There are many of them, have a look here: http://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/wiki/providers I use a combination of thecubenet (us - highwinds) and tweaknews (cambrium) . I hardly ever get failed downloads and all my nzbs are automated via sickbeard and couchpotato.

Edit. I may give next gen a go instead of Cube tho. Depends on their service and if I ever get that confirmation email thing.

I have been using NGN for a few months now, after starting with the free XSUsenet account. I must say that NGN has worked very well with almost no missing parts. They have only had 2 major issues recently, I think both were caused by their overseas network provider. In both cases the issue was resolved within a few days (caused blocks to be corrupted), and they credited us with all your downloads during the affected time and 25% extra (or time based on premium account). Their prices are quite cheap as well, so definitely give them a try.
 
Ok I finally got the email thingy..

They are using the eu servers as well.
From their FAQ:
NextGenNews has commercial NNTP feeds on the following major backbones:

GigaNews,
Highwinds Media,
Astraweb,
Cambrium, and
XSNews

I'll sign up with them at the end of the month and give them a go.

I'll check again tonight when I get home. Their website wasn't opening either so they might have had a problem. It's working now so hopefully it's fixed. Will post tonight.
 
Still not working and when i try to test connection on sanzbd is says "failed to connect"
 
Sometimes you just get bad ones...you know when they say they promise "99.99%" completion...occasionally you just hit one of those that have a 00.01% issue and no pars.

Its also very much linked to the age of the article.
