Since about an hour ago my internet has gone down. On my 10meg line I get speedtest of about 300k. Anyone got same issues.? Rebooted router about 5 times and reset port about 5 times. Also been holding on for Axxess support for the last 10 mins. This tells me they busy as they usually answer the phone immediately in the evenings.

now network status on their page:

Reduced Throughput - Southern regions 2015-02-03 21:27:16
We are receiving increased reports of reduced throughput and increased latency in the Southern Regions(Cape Town/Port Elizabeth and surrounds). Engineers are investigating. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Just spoke to support. Cape Town region is experiencing extremely high latency. A call has been logged with MTN apparently. Afrihost on same backbone. I guess no streaming Hulu tonight! 300k speedtest on a 10meg line

Ok, I guess he's awake now. Status changed. This a MAJOR outage. Damn you MTN! I was just starting episode 2 of Top Gear!!

Openweb, Afrihost and Axxess seems to be affected. Axxess and Afrihost updated site status.

Afrihost: We are receiving numerous reports from clients of very slow DSL speeds and high latency on their DSL connections. Our network engineers are investigating urgently to resolve this as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologise to affected clients for the poor performance currently experienced.

Openweb: Not updated yet. I logged a ticket, maybe they will do it

This is not an MTN fault, nor afrihost nor axxess

MTN's fault, grab a free webafrica account to tide you over.

Webafrica dead as well unfortunately. Looks like a big outage somewhere

Power related issues in the South on Telkom's network resulting in numerous DSLAMs going down. But there seems to be other related issues as well that have been as a result of a knock-on from the power problems.

Must be backhaul equipment affected somewhere as well. I have not lost sync to my DSLAM....load-shedding ?

Will hopefully receive a report today about it and have more details.
