Is CellC Stealing from their Data Contracts ?? [Nashua Mobile]

I've been billed R2208 for just one month of usage on my 5GB SmartData bundle. This is almost ten fold my average bill over the past year (about R300p/m).

After lengthily and numerous enquiries I managed to get the data bundle usage reports for the month from Nashua Mobile.

The discrepancies found:

1) I've received two reports detailing the data usage for the month, but these reports aren't the same??? Surely CellC should only have one version of the truth before billing customers?

2) The reports both show that I've exceeded my monthly data bundle and that I ran into OOB usage, which is true. On the 21st of the month my usage reached 5GB and I lifted the data cap setting on my DLINK router from 5GB to 6GB. Despite this router CAP setting of 6GB CellC are claiming that I used almost 10GB !!

I have two questions and I'm hoping the forum can guide me:

1) Has anyone else had a similar SmartData billing issue with CellC and if so who should I be speaking to at CellC to gain clarity? Nashua Mobile have been completely ineffective.

2) Can one actually rely on your router cap setting to protect you from massive OOB billing? If CellC is accurate then setting my router CAP to 6GB failed me.

3) Is there any chance that data traversed their network that was not consumed (downloaded or uploaded) by me for which I'm being billed? My usage was much the same as every other month, but my bill is 10x higher??

Thanks

Craig

This is one of the reason why I left Nashua, their billing system is manic and screwed at the best of times.

As mentioned by others- your problem is Nashua Mobile... They bill you at the end of the day, not Cell C.

Keeping an eye on Autopage. Was billed R550 for a R199 Cell C contract for the first month. They mentioned,

Kindly, note that upon your upgrade you got charged activation fee and partial charges including full subscription on your contract.

I did not upgrade, as it is a brand new contract. I think it is a bit excessive. Anxiously waiting for the second invoice.

I honestly don't know why people still go with Nashua Mobile and not deal directly with CellC/8ta/Voda/MTN...

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole...

They used to be good with Corporate Accounts, that was way back when.
I think the reason people use them is very similiar to Insurance Brokers, you should be getting the best deal as they provide all Networks, but this isnt the case.

Yes, but on restricted APN only connection you have initiated is generating traffic. You are on restricted APN unless you applied for unrestricted. And difference is not a big, very accurateI can say.
One matter is not clear enough. Is it that your router hit the 5GB cap, so you had to add another 6 GB, or network cut you off, then you adjusted cap to 6GB (but keeping current statistics)? In any case double check that router is not reseting statistics when you adjust the cap, in this case you would add another 8GB cap instead. :(

In future when happens you hit the cap again, I suggest to add 3GB 365 days voucher, this will be used only when your monthly cap is exceeded.

I reached 5gb usage on the 21st of the month. I then increased the limiter I set on my Dlink router by another 1gb. I then used this additional 1gb sparingly and did not reach the new self imposed cap of 6gb.

That's 9.8 Mbit/sec. Quite possible?

@kingpete, if I figure a way to get any kind of assistance from CellC I'll post it here for you to use too... After countless requests from my side and many empty promises from theirs I'm still waiting for clarity from Nashua Mobile.

From what I've seen over the past month and a half and now confirmed by the many postings by others on this thread I don't expect much assistance from Nashua Mobile.
