so this edge , what can u compare it to ? isdn, adsl , modem
:o

class 10 Edge: 216kbps
ISDN channel: 64 kbps / 128 kbps
Modem: 56kbps
ADSL: 384 to 1024 kbps
3G: 384 kbps
HSDPA: 1800kbps

Edge

For general browsing and email use it is actually quite acceptable. Dont expect big files at ADSl speeds and you wont be disapointed. I think 3g is actually overated -- it not available as widely as Edge and the speed is 1/3 to1/4 faster in reality.

Virgin Mobile edge rates suddenly look very attractive when you consider they are 1/4 of the price and deliver 3/4 of the speed and coverage is good.

Edge is the fastest and most stable data carrier, u know why???

Coz theres not as many edge users so therefore you can find signal easier and be one of a very few number of people using a base tower, you can even reach maximum dowload speeds at times ;)

I must be honest

For surfing I find Edge acceptable, 3G and HSDPA is very nice when downloading mp3's, mpeg's and so forth but for getting email's and surfing I find MTN's Edge network surfactant.

How good is Edge for Skype?

Chatting via the text box fine, voice a little broken up, video I don't think will be that great.

*ahem* Although that's a theoretical discuss MTNDD, right? VoIP being banned over MTN data ;) (well most providers actually. . .)

I find myself surfing on EDGE regularly (arf arf :p, darn you solitaire!!! ) and it's great.

On Wednesday evening I got 211kb/s max with my Datacard. No 3G reception.
On Thursday evening I got 130kb/s max.

I think the antenna will improve that.

It should as you getting a 2db gain

Just can't wait for 3G to be rolled out in Brackenfell.

Not sure what's happening with the coverage side of things

Coverage would have to advise you on that.
