Is Evetech legit?

Evetech has to be one of the most unethical and dodgy companies around. I have had a number of issues with them. This is the most recent issue I am having with them. I bought a 32-inch View Sonic monitor from them about a year ago. The monitor has a 3-Year warranty. I noticed that there seemed to be some internal marks in the monitor and also the resolution of the monitor was not performing as it should according to its specification.

I contacted Evetech to notify them about this, and they made me fill in their RMA form and pay R99 for delivery, which I did. Evetech then made arrangements with Aramex who they use as their delivery partner to pick up the monitor from me and deliver it to them. I had thrown away the original packaging of the monitor and before I could send the monitor back to Evetech, I told them about this and that I would make sure the monitor was properly packaged for delivery. I had used two layers of protective wrapping that monitors come delivered in and I also put on bubble wrap and extra plastic wrapping.

If the monitor had been half decently handled by Aramex during transit to Evetech, nothing would have happened. It so turns out that while delivering the monitor to Evetech, Aramex damaged the monitor and now it is completely broken. Evetech has now informed me that the monitor's warranty is now void and that they are not going to take any responsibility for the monitor being damaged during transit, this is even though Evetech made arrangements for the delivery themselves.

Can anybody help with advice on how to take action against Evetech and Aramex. SOMEBODY needs to do something about these two companies because they will continue to treat paying customers unfairly and cut corners in order to save money.

Do yourselves a favour, stay away from Evetech unless you want defective products and to lose your hard-earned money. It is clear from the other threads here on Hello Peter, that this company are unethical and greedy. The Worst customer experience ever.

So here is my ten cents on the whole warranty story:

Surely Evetech returns faulty items to their suppliers for replacement under the supplier's original warranty? That's the way the whole industry works, you source items from a supplier, who's warranty you pass on to your customer. If an item is returned under said warranty, you return it to your supplier for replacement.

So if Evetech is scamming customers on warranty replacements and passing bogus undervalued store credit instead of giving the customer a replacement item, surely they still return these items to their supplier for replacement anyways? This means that they are double scamming... Depreciated warranty credit for faulty goods, then getting replacement items from their suppliers which they likely put on the shelf and sell at full retail value.

I am surprised I have not seen anyone mention this yet, I can't be the only one that has come up with this theory, can I?

No, pretty sure others have mentioned this as well.

What you're saying is a given, but I wouldn't look at it as a double scam. Just one somewhat elaborate scam.

At any rate, my theory is that a lot of their stuff doesn't carry local warranty (grey imports) and so it gets bundled where possible with stuff that does.

This is why they have so much red tape around their warranty processes.

I5 11400 upgrade kit
Okay so I previously bought a upgrade kit from Evetech and Apon receiving the items I noticed the motherboard I received had a lose USB hosing and the static plastic was not sealed, this made me think that Evetech sent me a second hand motherboard, I contacted them immediately and they advised me that they only sell brand new computer components. I sent the setup to RBS computers in Port Elizabeth and they advised me the motherboard is damaged the computer is not posting, contacted evetech and they advised me that the damages occurred from my side, a motherboard that was not sealed is now my problem. Evetech goes on to say they can provide a damage report for insurance claim, how can I now claim for second hand goods that I bought brand new from Evetech. I mean I spent R11000 at Evetech expecting to get brand new components. I'm now siting with a headache trying to get either my money back or BRAND NEW components from evetech.

I bought a GPU 2 years ago, the gpu started giving issue in the 3rd year. I returned it for warranty but they gave store credit and force you to buy within a short period. I had a look at the other site(they own), and they had suddenly stock of the same GPU for 3x the price. Anyways I bought an branded SSD for the store credit, I have 3 of the same SSD from wootware. The SSD supplied from evetech has 1/3 of the speed of the other SSD, never doing any business with them ever.

A friend had cpu issues and they gave store credit but reduce store credit. He contacted the supplier to find out if they had stock and they actually did not have stock, requesting a contact at the supplier to check cpu if they had replace or refunded, it turns out they replaced it with a better CPU since the original was discontinued.

He fought and got full store credit, under the terms and condition they can give store credit. So he never take it further.

I really believe that we as customers need to take a class action lawsuit against Evetech based on all of the comments on this thread. They damaged my Monitor which cost me over R5000 when I sent it to them to claim under a Warranty I had. I paid for the delivery and because of their negligence, I now have monitor which is cracked and now I cannot claim for the monitor to be fixed under the warranty I had. Evetech are the most unethical computer supplier I have ever come across. If nothing gets done about them, they will continue to rip off customers.

I have zero sympathy, despite all the warnings people still chose to buy from them to save a few rands. I know that sounds horrible and insensitive but people only learn when they get burnt.

So I bought a R26 500 laptop from these guys, as did another guy in my dept. When the other guy had warranty issues, I checked on Lenovo's site - and unsurprisingly, it wasn't the 3 year onsite lenovo warranty they very very clearly sold it is... the below being a screen capture from the actual invoice for my laptop...

I did raise this concern with them months ago, asking if they could fix my issue with Lenovo - giving them the benefit of the doubt - but they ignored multiple emails about this (which is on par with my initial sales experience with them)

The manufacturer warranty is an absolute minimum for me with a laptop of this price... and I would not have bought their "platinum warranty" crap if I had known this.

If I look on Lenovo's site... I get this though...

Now I have had to make use of it, and the guys from their warranty company have tried to sneak a second hand, dirty, scuffed up replacement keyboard / top panel... which is beyond frustrating. Plus they refused to help me until I dug the invoice out and sent it to them - even though they confirmed they could see the laptop is under their crappy warranty...

Surely this level of blatant miss-match from their invoice vs what has been lodged with Lenovo should count as fraud?

and this is not even starting to speak about their well known terrible service...

If you have bought anyone from these sharks - I encourage you to check your "manufacturer" warranty with the actual manufacturer, before you get stuck with second hand parts...

I was considering the same laptop (except the Ryzen version), because of that very warranty.
Would do the delivery service myself and everything.

Surely Lenovo should renew the warranty and match to advertised though?
I remember when I bought my Acer, it gave me an HDD problem within a month, and so I took it to Acer, and they updated the warranty details for me, which was expired and didn't match their system.

Same with the Dell I bought from Evetech. I called Dell and they updated the warranty to match what was on the Evetech invoice.

DUDES DONT BUY FROM THESE SHARKS IF YOU WANT A WARRANTY HONOURED.
Do your due diligence.

Dont understand why people still keep at it.

been buying workstations and hardware from wootware. Ill rather pay a bit extra of imeccable builds, service and quality.

Personally, when I bought from them it was because it was literally the only place I could find that specific laptop. I only bought from them because of Dell's warranty reputation.
