Is Facebook envy making you miserable?

fascinating actually. But facebook is a distorted reality. Its people window dressing their lives and collecting snapshots of moments that add up to something far removed from reality- like a romance novel or a cheap assed porno on ETV.

This sums it up perfectly- old but still good:

how-i-look-in-photos-i-upload.jpg

Edit* Strange but I get the impression some people are now living solely to collect more moments to paste on their walls. Its like you're out at mug and bean with them and you're not engaging because they're too busy trying to prove they have a social life by uploading pictures of their cappuccinos and crumpets. It's bizarre

Men were shown to post more self-promotional content on Facebook to let people know about their accomplishments while women stressed their good looks and social lives.

this is very true.

I thought this article was about a cure of facebook envy. . . .
It's simple, delete your profile.

It's like a movie or TV series. The characters you see there looks fine and looks like he/she is coping with everything. In real life, he/she is sniffing coke and drinking just to cope with everyday life.
I see a lot of my friends stressing through the day, but their facebook status and pics tell another story. Sad really.

I genuinely cannot appreciate why some people have a need for Facebook. But as an Aspie I might just be wrongly wired for it LOL!

Well done to the researchers for pointing out the obvious. I also was victim of FB envy and decided to unsubscribe from everyone's notifications. I am entirely guilty of using it as a platform for most of the content I create (art/writing/game videos).

Do I miss out on some funny videos or cool articles? Yes, but FB is a far more pleasant experience now that the only stuff that pops up in my feed is charity/hobby/motivational quote related.

If I think about someone (who I can't call on the phone or see in person) and want to find out how they are doing, I pop by their FB page and check it out (which is rarely ever these days) and maybe send them a message.

it's simple, if your facebook friends seem more succesful and happier than you and that is making you sad... delete them!

it's simple, if your facebook friends seem more successful and happier than you ...

... tell them how cr@p your life is and ask for donations to be paid into a specified bank account.

You'll then see the reality of (1) How well they're really doing, and (2) Their friendship.

Expect nothing.

LOL!!! I remember a few years back how I used to 'hide' facebook friends who updated their status about everything!! I mean everything! That annoyed me! From changing nappies to 'having sushi' at ocean basket... I've seen it all!
