IS hardcapping!

They did not do so last month (i reached around 70gb).

Too early to tell this month.
At 3gb / 14 hours, and with IS being slow during the day, 30GB is around 10 days. I am on 15GB at the moment, and international is not terrible - but certainly throttled. Local is fine.

Never been hardcapped with IS, and average about 40Gig/month

I've been using the IS offering since Nov and have averaged 80-100gigs a month since then. I have never been cut off. Infact lately it seems they have adopted the same "soft" capping that telkom has on international where you would have 10-16 gigs international before getting de-plugged.

yeah, no hard-capping here either. Havent broken the 30 gigs this month but i am nearly there...

As for the international soft-capping- that is indeed interesting. I have not tried that out yet. Got to my usual 6 gigs and then went to local automatically. If this is the case it would be really great as many users would have no real reason to stay with telskom then....

Yea the international thing was a surprize too me also it didnt happen the last few months but this month i managed 14 gigs then it got limited. Yesterday it was freed up again.

so you currently have international again? even after raping 14 gigs off it and being capped once already?

Same here been with IS since november never been hardcapped and this month already over my 30gb cap. And for international I just use a proxy.

yeah, i use the proxy too and its working well, but what about international downloads? Torrents etc? This could be something really big if it turns out they are softcapping like telkom....

Any other forumites with softcap experiences this month on IS?

One of my accounts were hardcapped. unfortunately i raped it a little....lol

i was cut off at about 36 gb's this month. before i was never hardcapped.

Is IS hardcapping? was told so by Openweb..

Hey Friends,

Unfortunately, IS have started hardcapping users this month.

It seems like they run a script that moves accounts over their 20 to 30GB (depending on account) mark, to a Hard Capped group, that then disables the account unrtil next month.

In some cases, they have allowed accounts to exceed 30GB up to about 56GB's, at which stage they hard cap it.

I have emailed Internet Solutions and requested them to officially confirm this if you do not wish to take my word for it.

Kind regards

:( That really sucks.

Is this a long-term thing?

I hope not :( Unfortunately, we haven't received any written communication from IS regarding this policy. I am still waiting for their reply.

Hey Friends,

I have just received the following from IS:

*******
Hi Keoma

Please note that all 2GB, 3GB, 5GB ... 10GB accounts have a 30GB local

hard cap. Once they’ve reached this cap they will not be able to authenticate.

This is in the agreement for all clients and we are now implementing

this from the 1st of April.

Kind Regards

the fact that this applies from the 1st of april is not some kind of late april fool's joke i take it??

This really bums me out...

Right, time to swap those 5gb+ accounts to multiple 3GB accounts...
So, If you have a 10GB account, rather get 3*3GB accounts.

that still really sux though. The one good thing left in souht african internet was the ability to rape the local cap. Now that that is gone, there really isnt much point any more :(

Damn! Just as I am about to signup for an IS account.. :(

What is this proxy you guys are talking about?
