So me and a bud went to a braai at a mutual friend's house last night.

Later that evening we decided to go for a few drinks at the local pub, walking distance about a block and a half.

As we normally do we started mingling with the locals and I started chatting with this charismatic gay dude (let's call him Jay)

Somewhere in our conversation I asked him if he's married yet and he replied no, but I'm currently dating 4 guys.
Without hesitation the words 'you slut' rolled over my tongue and Jay's face just dropped, I mean his bottom jaw was hanging on the floor :D

What followed was a leeengthy discussion/ argument about whether or not he's a slut :D
Jay was not impressed but we never came to a proper conclusion.

Your take please

Definition of SLUT

1
chiefly British : a slovenly woman
2
a : a promiscuous woman; especially : prostitute
b : a saucy girl : minx

"Slut." Merriam-Webster.com. Merriam-Webster, n.d. Web. 31 May 2015. <http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/slut>.

He is not a woman or a girl and can therefore not be a slut.

EDIT: Damn, SB beat me to it

True but I was always under the impression that the term 'slut' are being used today in a unisex manner.

I have never been called a slut before:( how sad

I have. And not because I was sleeping around mind you. Cause I dared break up with my ex and then starting dating someone else when he thought we'd get back together again. That's ok to call me a slut then apparently.

Well i guess the time frame is important. If it took you a month or less to find somebody else, well I would called you a slut aswell.

It doesn't make her a slut just because she can easily move on. Where does this arbitrary time frame come from?

Wow - so by that comment - if you break up with somebody you still have rights to them for a month? Didn't know that. News to me. Newsflash - when you break up it isn't over. Not unless you've stayed pure for at least a month. What hogwash.

Actually let me qualify that. If I dated and broke up. Dated and broke up. Dated and broke up. You get the picture - all the time in a short space of time, then maybe, yes maybe he could say I was slut. But I dated my ex for about 2 years before we broke up. He was just being bitter.

and you didn't love him, so it was easier to move on than it was for him

Of course I loved him. He on the other hand was toxic. I realised afterwards that he was emotionally abusing me. My friends tried to tell me but I was too blinded at the time. He would break things and bash walls in. I asked him one day after an episode if he'd ever hit me. His response - you've never made me angry. 0_0

I was just lucky to meet a nice guy soon afterwards - so apparently that makes me a slut. Sigh.

What's so bad about being promiscuous? Aside from religious influence, why is it so negative? If I slept with the entire human race (and used protection), what's it to you?

Seems like this is bothering you. This jerk abused you yet you take his opinion with even the smallest grain of salt. Just why?

eish. Glad you're out of that relationship....one never knows

If it was only his opinion. He told his buddies. It got posted on social media. So the assumption of slut from an ex is that they cheated on you. So that's what his buddies thought of me. I was the bad guy. That's why.
