IS - International down?

I can't believe it is down again. Seems like we are back to IS being dead every afternoon from around 15:00 - almost identical to last year.

It has been a common occurrence of late. I wonder if it's time to jump back onto the SAIX bandwagon?

Does anyone actually bother to tell IS to get their act together?
I recall sending them an email stating I was unhappy with their service and getting bugger all response from them.

why oh why do South African companies behave like it's ok to give crappy service?

Wow, when will a week go by without something going wrong at IS? :-(

I know it has been the topic of other threads but i think it applies here- what other options are there out there that are any good that are not IS-based? I am looking for an alternative 3gig/30 account....

any ideas?

I've got a bit of string you can pay a monthly 'loyalty' fee on if you want to connect through that.. (subject to signing of a 36 month contract and your first born)

RE:

Is IS doing anything to prevent this sort of problem (as it is occuring regularly) , or do we sit without international bandwidth everytime the weather is bad

Subject: [IS Alert] IS International ADSL Service

We are currently experiencing major degradation affecting our International IS ADSL Service, due to bad weather near satellite earth station.

dear god,

would you be so kind to move the current thunderstorm over the sat earth station a little to the left so that international bandwidth for adsl can return to normal.

infact, this forum's users would be greatful if you could stop the rain all together in gauteng to allow non interupted international access via IS' adsl solution.

thanks you kindly

This is exactly why I never liked satellite connections, not as reliable and fast as fiber optics.

Rather give me a 512K line with 300ms latency, than a 1024K line with 700ms latency.
