Major degration of INTL Business adsl service at NAT pops. Slow responces. Both IS and telco engineers attending

South Africa's broadband has decided to take the long weekend off. It will be back on Tuesday.

The monthly degradation cycle is clearly obvious on the IS network.

From the 23 of the month to the end of the month the network is unbearable because of the end of the month rush. Then the network recovers by the 10th and is OK till the 23 and so it repeats.
Not this month, just cr@p whole month.
But generally on it's best days IS bandwidth is sh1te bandwidth, or any ZA bandwidth.
I remember fondly a large ISP owner telling me how **** IS is and how glad he was moving to SAIX.

Is is complely and Utterly BUGGERED at the moment. Business ADSl my ASS!

Very slow connection for me as well... got 2kb download speed...
This is the second times for this week...
what a disappointment start for the long weekend...

i been phoning IS about 5 times in all today, as first the problem was only in nelspruit then they took my details and said they phone back which they didnt so i phoned and they hadnt done anything yet, so i phoned again later then the problem was changed to nelspruit and umhlanga (durban) and then was changed again to the durban area in general.

but the funny part is that they guy reaconed that i was the only person that had phoned from durban ..... so i said excuse me but i know for a fact that there are lots of ppl suffering, go to myadsl.co.za and read this post headed "Openweb IS local down??" and all the other ones

Been on IS a week now... two major faults since I signed the contract... Oh dear. What have I done!???

Ping Stats

I think some of this problem lies with the exchanges at the momment.

From here a ping response INSIDE IS doing a tracert, is between 1000-2000ms a hop.

Same tracert from another box at a distant location with a differant exchange has 30-100ms a hop inside IS.

(*Note both machines are using IS based accounts. Same line load on both*)

Seems we can thank both Telkom and IS.

I've been testing a 512k uncapped IS against a 4mbit Telkom connection and only on speedtest.net could my telkom 4mbit beat the 512k uncapped, in all the other speedtest from all over the world the IS uncapped beats my 4mbit hands down. Unbelievable but what can i say.
