I would like to know this, cuz if it is then i wanna get an IS account.

it really depends, if you want to get like a IS account from MrBeep then you will get: lets say you get a 3gb IS account from him you will then get 27gigs local, well rather let MrBeep explain!

4cer - atm, local IS is uncapped and there is partial international access after your cap.

This however is not gauranteed, IS could cap and implement the actual package restrictions at any time, but atm they do not.

The package is meant to be, 30gig max local, and after international cap, no international access.

Ok i wanna try a IS account, how much for the 3GIG, and 27Gig Local.

How long does it take to get activated, and is it possible to just take an account for a month.

Hey 4cer,

With OpenWeb, we offer a wide variety of IS accounts, include a "One Month Stand" account, which will last only until month end.

All our prices are available here:

http://www.openweb.co.za/newsite/adsl.html

Our IS products start at only R163 for 2GB's!

Warm regards
MrBEEP

Clipse is IS not actually capping after 30gigs? Are you certain about this? I don't want to clock up 30gigs only to be hardcapped. I'm with openweb if that makes any difference.

kobie - as I mentioend to 4cer, atm they do not cap exactly on 30gig, but there is no gaurantee that it will last long/forever. So its still something you will have to risk if you dont mind being capped.

I wish some place would introduce a local only account. Since Telkom claim its the international that costs so much I think a local only account which is unlimited an unshaped should be possible for quite cheap.

I am tired of paying international rates for local traffic!

I think optimal would be IS differentiating between local/international on their 30gig accounts. Would be great start.

I did 60+GB on an IS ADSL 3GB last month. International was a dog after 3GB, but local was OKish.

I set up routing for most things via my SAIX 3GB hardcapped account, and set persistant routes for my IS local traffic (news.is.co.za my IS server, my IS FTP needs etc). If I was 1/2 @rsed, I would pull the IPs for my favourite sites (like myADSL) that are local, and route those as well - but my web browsing does not nearly reach 3GB anyway.

Now, I can run heavy local via IS and everything else via SAIX simul.

Hard to tell the difference!

If you are on IS, its difficult to tell the difference in terms of performance whether you are capped or not.

Generally international sucks during the day!

lol! Maybe I was uncapped all along....

But yes, IS has SERIOUS SERIOUS problems with most things.
1) International is bad
2) FTP is non-existant
3) SAIX <-> IS during the day is a no-go

news server is GREAT after hours though

Maybe IS needs to close all services and just start a GigaNews type service?

Is!

If you just plan to do lots of local surfing IS is fine. But international anything from p2p to just plain old surfing is a drag during daylight.

Email to local IS based mail servers is instant.

News and local torrents are also acceptable.

I think you more or mostly less get what you pay for. Quantity not quality but hey we have to take what we can afford!
