Hi there-

Is it legal yet for me to setup a wireless antenna on my foor and broadcast internet to my entire complex of 30 houses?

100% Legal = All you have to do is get a broadcasting license from ICASA, then you're all set to go.

Otherwise - If you can avoid your signal crossing the complex boundaries and messing up another complex's setup, then you should have no problems at all and nobody will care/complain. Now - if you start conflicting with Sentech or Teklom's broadcasting, then you've got a problem.

Take a look at this: http://www.mybroadband.co.za/nephp/?m=show&id=1101

Good luck.

no but the good news is that this is going to be a lot easier to do once the convergence / electronic communications bill becomes law

as far as i can see this will either require you to register (as opposed to apply) for a class licence or will be licence exempt

Well, at least things are progressing, even if ever so slightly.

But why can we setup a home wireless network. cant i setup a home network and share the details with my neighbours?
