Is it possible...

Depends, do you want to play it at high res or medium style graphics?

Well, not for me, but let's say whatever that rez is just under HD, and at running in at least medium, for sure.

*edit*

I can get stuff from dealers, forgot to mention, sorry.

I believe its possible if on medium res.. High res would require more $$

I spent under 2k on a graphics card (geforce 550ti), 1,4k on an i3 barebones system, runs Skyrim on full details, good fps.

To build a PC that can rock Skyrim for not a penny over 6K, monitor included?

Intel Pentium G860 @ R791
MSI PH61A-P35 (B3) @ R473
TEAM Elite DDR3-1600 4GB @ R197
Sapphire HD7770 1GB DDR5 @ R1435
Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB 16MB cache @ R591
LG GH24NS90 @ R166
Cooler Master GX 400W @ R499
Cooler Master Elite 311 @ R320
Samsung S22B300B 21.5" @ R1555

Total: R6027

Thanks to recent updates, Skyrim is no longer CPU-dependant, so a dual-core Pentium will do just fine. Alternatively:

AMD A6-3670K @ R1191
ASUS M5A78L-M LX @ R646
LG E2051C-BN @ R956
[add in the rest of the system here]

Total: R6001

With a quad-core things will be a bit smoother and in my experience you don't notice the lower resolution, after a few minutes with the monitor. Your gameplay experience will be noticeably better as well. And both PCs will be running at maximum detail with 2x AA.

Sorry for the double-post, but are you high? A 2GB DDR3 GT630? Really? And a barebones PC with a 200W power supply - wow, you really want to limit the poor guy.

Well, if you work on a budget, money can sometimes limit you...

Likewise if you build an unbalanced system using crappy components, the components limit you. Your recommendation is fine for home/work use and for productivity, but not for gaming. And the 200W PSU wouldn't be able to power everything properly either, I'm guessing. And 12GB of RAM?

Did you include VAT for those prices?

Useful stuff, thanks all.

Had a chat to the guy last night, he says he's going to try up it to 7K, which means we can maybe look at an i5, which will be nice. He can always upgrade his GPU in a year or two if he needs to.
