Hi

I have been thinking lately about getting a Xbox 360...

Now with the whole Black Ops fiasco, I am seriously considering it.
My only problem with this is will it be difficult to learn the xbox controls for Black Ops if you are used to gaming on the PC?

No not at all, its very easy and super awesome, you get used to it really quickly too. However, you'll never be as accurate or fast as on a PC.

Wrong post dude hehe, just wait till the ps3 guys start raiding this post. But my opinion jump In won't be a mistake :)

I also understand that you can game with a 384 line without any hiccups on the X360.

Another thing is if you register on Xbox Live SA will you only play online with SA guys?

i tried live for the 1st time yesterday and it was awesome.... no lag or any issues at all, played reach all night, i saw someone asking if its only locals, definitely not.... saw alot of uk accounts (even though locals may still have uk accounts), also had two French guys singing in my ear on one match so dont think it was only locals.

only thing though, i wasnt able to find players on mw2 or cod4, not sure if it was an issue on my side or what

I got myself a XBOX 360 a few months ago. I really love it, but I am finding it hard to play FPS games. I do not have to patience to get used to the new controls... lol or maybe Im just getting old

I played COD Black on live yesterday and only vs SA players. I set my search preference to search only for games in my locale.

I found it quite easy to adjust to the controller config.

Instead of WASD use the left stick.
For looking around the right stick.
Still the same hands, only now with your thumbs and it will get use to the sensitivity.
You can use the same fingers for shooting/jumping if you assign fire/jump to the right side's triggers.
Left trigers for weapon cycling or whatever else you might need.
(I only played FPS on PC with a 2-button mouse :o , it has been a while :D)

Like everything else it will take some practise and getting use to.
But the small learning curve is so worth it when you compare the plug and play nature of the consoles vs the constant system upgrade requirement and DRM checks on the PC.

I do like the plug and play nature.

I currently have:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.06GHZ
4GB Corsair DDR2 800 RAM
ATi HD4850 1GB 256BIT

And I can not play CoD Black Ops at all even when I drop the resolution from 1920x1080 to 1024x768

So yeah I am starting to think Xbox FTW.

Im also going to make the jump to console very soon. I love my PC but its ageing. I will miss the keyboard mouse but oh well. Millions of people play with a controller, why cant I? ;)

I have a similar PC to the one above and I was struggling with Metro 2033. I have everything on lowish settings.

I did go the PS3 route instead though...

So keep it in mind that I'm commenting from a PS3 controller's perspective in the post above.
Althoug the layout is a little different, I'm sure the controller experience won't be that different on the Xbox360

Oh no, lets please not go on the console war path.

People cant be that sensitive. He is just saying he got a PS3. We should be allowed to at least mention it.

If anyone comes on here and starts a console war... I guess we can conclude that person needs to get laid.

If you are looking to ease into the console controller experience get a fragenstein, i got one for my PS3, workssss like a dream:o

Also got a PS3 recently, but that was for sport games I can't play on PC and for some exclusives I wanted to play. As for first person shooters, I won't touch it on console. I got Black-Ops for PC. Shooting with analogs just feels wrong.

My PC FPS online gaming far exceeds my console gaming, but there is something about lining up a shot with an analog stick and actually squeezing the trigger on the 360 controller. The satisfaction is just more than what it is with a mouse. With a mouse, it's about reflexes and having a good gaming mouse and pad, with a gamepad it's your actual skills with the analogs that makes you a better player. Mouse is still move and click as soon as possible then "kill". That's how it feels for me.

I agree, it is much easier with a mouse and the only skill difference between players is who lags less and clicks first...

I think I will enjoy the challenge to learn to shoot with the Xbox control.
