Another considerating is that many generics have a bloody loud fan on them. That's something you definitely do not want on an HTPC.

Where in the store did you find it? I've yet to see a PSU in an IC store being sold separately.
And BTW, you're building an HTPC so Corsair's V range was specifically built to be QUIET so if you're willing to shell out a couple hundred bucks more, the VX450W will be your answer. I've got one and it's dead silent and I don't have to worry since 5 year warranty.
