IS Local performance

Hi guys,

I am thinking about moving to ADSL and I'm obviously going to get a local only account for local gaming and downloads, because it would save me a lot of bandwidth that is currently counting towards my cap on iBurst.

Now I was obviously swung towards IS because of their news server and lower prices, but are there any problems with their local accounts? I would think that most of the problems that they suffer with their international connectivity should be out of the equation with local, so are the accounts stable enough in general and especially for local gaming?

Just looking for some first hand opinions on weather it would really be much better to go with SAIX for local and international, on separate accounts though.

get both, simple
use routesentry to traffic international to SAIX, and LOCAL/IS newsservers to IS. lots of threads about it.

i got a 3GB saix, and 30GB local going... already got 40 gigs downloaded on IS.

I'm surprised that IS can almost give away 30+GB local bandwidth for around R 120-00, and still have it perform well, when they complain the IP Connect bandwidth from Telkom is so expensive. When I was last quoted for IPC bandwidth, it was about R20K for 2MBit. This must have dropped significantly.

This is what I was planning to do, I was wondering if there is any benefit in using the SAIX local only accounts for my local. I will use SAIX for international in any case.

It sounds like the IS local accounts are fine though, and the newsserver alone is worth it, just didnt want downtime and lagging for online gaming.

do not use local saix account, go with IS. Much better choice. i use telkom 3gig account for international and IS 30 gig local. Much better option and i wished i had found it ages ago. Don't think was around then but anyway.
