So much promise... but a growing set of bugs. What's the consensus regarding MAUI, is it getting read to go the way of Silverlight?

From my point of view, I do not want to build UI's in C#, even though I love C# and .NET and would not choose a different backend technology

Which means I don't care about MAUI or Blazor.

Similar to how I have zero interest in Node because I have no desire to write JS/TS on the backend (BFF/remix excluded)

Maui did seem to have a bright future a couple years back. I've not seen much adoption though around the projects I've worked. I think Flutter made a huge impact, especially with Ubuntu backing Flutter for their desktop apps development.

What’s your go to for UI?

On a serious note, we were React and recently started using Next.JS. Still, I have just started a MAUI course because I believe having the knowledge of various languages and framewoeks even if you never get to write an app/system with it, is still beneficial.

Was considering learning MAI but it's been slow to take traction in the past few years. Flutter and Dart for now.

I was exited for blazor but reading about hot relaod issues etc on Reddit constantly, makes me steer away. Curiously flutter wasm is also coming.

someone missed the layoffs..
Layoffs were across the board, all teams affected. If Google drops Flutter as a project (doubtful - but sh*t happens), I'm sure it will become a community project as it is all open source. But ja, interesting times

MAUI is BAAAAAAD, whether it dies or not, I have made a choice to move away from any Microsoft based mobile dev. Terrible migration paths, they ditched Xamarin Forms before MAUI was nearly ready enough so now we are sitting with unsupported Xamarin Forms, which we need to hack to get working or be forced to move over to MAUI which isn't mature / stable enough to trust.

We are looking into Flutter and Dart, but now that I see this thread and some comments, should I be worried? Really not looking at moving to a new platform and/or language again soon after this move is made.

ReactNative? at least then you learn some transferable skills (Typescript, React).

Obviously a good developer can change language/tech quite easily, but there is not future in Dart outside of Flutter ‍:shrug
