yeah, but luckily it won't be an issue to replace the ROM with MIUI.eu or something custom to get over the bombardment of advertising and such. I know a lot of people did the same thing with Amazon and Blu ad-supported devices so it's a win in most cases for the price.

No need to change the ROM on these MIUI phones unless you get one intended for the Chinese market. The ads this guy rants about are there, and they are annoying, but a few simple tweaks and you can get rid of 95% of them, most by simply opting out.

The rest can be avoided by not using the built in Xiaomi apps, and rather their Google counterparts, which most people do anyway.

So got the update today that the phone has been shipped, along with the DHL tracking number. So far so good.
