I seem to notice that my phone picks up Edge a lot more these days.

And often when I check my BB, it has 3G or HSDPA. It really feels to me like the standards are dropping.

And I have mainly noticed this at work over the last couple of months on Sandstone when I used to be on HSDPA or 3G for nearly all the time.

I've experienced the same thing over the past few months. The speeds are horrible causing page requests to be extremely slow.

yesterday i had loss of network and its just plain slow. phk-u-mtn

Same this side, very bad lately. And what's been happening with me is that because the packet loss is so high, the phones CPU works harder and gets really hot. Happened with a Galaxy S2 and a BB in the last few months.

I've experienced the same thing, especially the last month. Phoning them is also pointless because you get transferred continuously from department to department.

Then they try to blame it on the area when it wasn't like this a month back.

In the last week I have worked from the following areas: Edenvale, Kilarney, Midrand, Rooihuiskraal and Faerie Glen.

I have experienced the same poor reception in all areas with constant disconnects. I wish I had stayed with Vodacom.

I am in Edenvale, the data and the call quality is shocking.

Same here. A few areas of poor signal, or occasional drops in one area, can be understood - but not complete lack of data for hours. I experienced this in the Cresta area yesterday ... and couldn't even make calls.

Jolly good show, MTN. :(
