i moved up the 1st of july and on my way to cpt i received a camera fine (saw it flash me)....the thing is it only came in the post yesterday and the family i lived with told me about it ...

how can i get a copy of it without him emailing it to me and since its been almost 2 months is the fine valid ?

Have you updated you information to reflect your new address yet? They will send you a second letter ordering you to pay before a certain date (later than the date from the first letter). I'd just wait it out.

no , i have not changed address cos that would mean changing number plates and costs alot of money ...i just purchased my car in june and paid for jhb licensing so will only change address next year when license is going to expire ...

Dont pay fine. ignore it.

Fines become prescribed after 2/3 years and you will not be prosecuted.

you have been issued with a notification of a fine, you have not been issued with a summons, only once you have been handed an actual summons from a police officer or officer of the court does it become legal and you are liable to admit guilt and pay the fine

the problem is every 2nd day they have a roadblock where they check for all that

You were not issued a summons and you have not acknowledged receipt thereof. Only after you ignore a summons will a warrant of arrest be issued, hence the cops can do you fckal at the roadblocks.....

The catch with getting a fine in a place like Richmond, it's usually the only place that know about it. As far as i know the traffic departments between provinces and even cities are not integrated. If you have a fine Cape Town, the Metro Cops in Jozi most likely will never know about it.

That's incorrect. All fines are recorded in the department of transport's ENATIS database which is used nationwide.

yeah i kinda know about that also ....cos i know we had few fines in jhb and we went to mpumalanga and the guys there never picked up on it

thanks tho

will see if i have money left over to just pay it so i dont have any wanted signs on my head :)

Also, there's a misconception about traffic fines and roadblocks. The cops can/will only arrest you at a roadblock for outstanding traffic fines if there is an outstanding warrant of arrest for you because you have failed to attend your court appearance for that particular traffic offence. Even then they are only allowed to arrest you if they have the actual warrant at hand, not a fax or a copy, although they regularly ignore this requirement.
