Is my flash drive dying?

Back to the same again. Drive appears as a file. Slow read/write/opening times :(
Reluctant to be safely removed.

This is after a full format and virus-check :(
Still works though, just about.

Anyone have any ideas, besides buying a new one? :(

Have taken all data off and formatted. Still no joy.

Is it just on its way out or am I missing something?

Edit: This happened to a Verbatim one I have, and formatting fixed it...

Did you know you can rewrite to it over 100000 times and it will still not break:cool:

Yeah. These days if you can install a OS (poorly) you are an IT Whizzz.
Back in Std.6 I was coding my 6502 Apple clone in assembly & binary, getting to the innards with a soldering iron. I learned very quicly not to mess with crt monitors though :D

Mine did the same, showing it as a folder, but a format fixed mine. Your pc can be infected, so after every format you do on the Flash drive, it gets infected again. :(

Ya. But nothing seems to track down the infection. Have tried a few antivirus programs now :(
 
Here's hw you solve this issue...

First restore the computer to an ealier state, before that "stupid" icon appeared..
Then when done format the flash drive... Problem should be solved :)

That virus is in the autorun.inf. Next time if you plug in a flash and the folder icon comes up again, just go the the comman line and type:
attrib -s -h -r autorun.inf
del autorun.inf
This way, you can get rid of it without accessing it...:)
