im thinking of changing to a 3 gig int account and buying 2 30 gig local
will be around the same cost as a 10 gig saol
route sentry FTW
use only your local for grabit and use your int for browsing
That's pretty much my setup right now. Works very well (even if News Servers never give more than 100 K/s when lucky)
My setup is a mess - I've got an IS account running on one machine, skype running on another machine with a 1gb WA unshaped account, my missus has a 1gb shaped WA account on her iBook and I've got a SAIX account running on my powerbook.That's pretty much my setup right now. My neighbour is also piggybacking my WIFI using his own adsl account.
Any other country - all this - ONE ACCOUNT!
If the IS news server was reliable I could cut my number of accounts in half.
Yep - same here - same show too! Didnt want to have to wait until tomorrow so sacrificed some of my faster bandwidth and used easynews.paid news servers are just the bomb!

Easynews is also good for NZB's.

Let me try say this in a nice way. IS GO SHOVE YOUR HEADS UP YOUR A**ES. YOUR ADMINS SUCK! WHOEVER IS UPGRADING THE NEWS SERVER IS USELESS AND TO ME IT SEEMS F'N BS THAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY UPGRADING IT!

Why wouldnt i get more than 50kb/s? Surely a local server should give me more than an international news server which gives me 430kb/s?
The first night i got 4mbit IS news server gave me 430kb/s....
Im sure everyone was downloading at 430kb/s off the server that nite.
So WTF went wrong?
Why would you doubt it? I get over 400kb/s from my international news server - even using an IS connection.
ATM I'm using both IS and Easynews - switching back to IS is like hitting a sand bunker compared to the international one.
I would be happy to pay for a local server such as newshosting's, easynews...
If we are able to get 400kb/s+ from international providers then im pretty sure IS has the capacity to handle it locally on their news server...

i dont think IS would want so many ppl pulling info that speed surely?

no like easynews and newshosting. I havent seen them get under 400kb/s anytime of the day. But i dont have the money to **** out international bandwidth 24/7. So when im capped *thinks for a second* news.is.co.za *cries*

If you had a paid news server on your old 10gb account you'd have seen the difference. No need for grabit or anything else as you downloads are done via http interface.
