IS News Server Monthly Usage

Right, just as a general investigation id like all the IS news server users to reply stating their monthly usage from the servers. There have been numerous complaints about the IS News Servers being useless and such that i felt the need to raise some awareness to the ignorant South African Internet Users...
Sure the servers can be somewhat unstable at times, however, they seem to be up more often than most ADSL services in South Africa. (Daily i receive about 10 network error reports from the SAIX Notice Board.)

My usage pm is about : 60gb.

So far for March 26gb

I did around 70GB last month (first month of usage). on around 6GB this month
 
I don't download that much and normally finish my 1/10gb account during the last 2 days on the news servers. I'm on 384k, so I'm pretty limited in my usage, but manage my fair share during the last days of the month.

So I would say I use about 7-8gb's a month on the news servers.

So lets see, 8 or so gigs of downloading for the expensive price of R99/month :O
 
Pulled 35GB last month on a 30GB local account, and I've already got 26GB queued up - let's see if I can get to 45GB in March ;).

To what aim? The way I see it the less aware joe public is the better things are ;)

I think that he's referring to the performance aspect - the more people who are made aware of it, the more congested and unstable it starts becoming.

Most of the people using the servers from it's early days had to make an effort to find out how to use it by themselves. The fact that they're ignorant is not our fault, therefore we shouldn't advocate laziness. There's plenty of info on the forum, as well as the rest of the net in order for anybody to learn about it if they're willing to make an effort to search for it. I just don't see the point of people starting new threads just because they're not willing to press the search button instead.
 
I have a 10gig account and it basically gets used up by month end.
 
Jan - 76GB.
Feb - 79GB.

Complete agree with you daboucer. Just started using it myself and I think its brillant. Sure, sometimes you can't connect but I think many people forget they are getting it for free.

February (last 7 days of the month only) - 14gb
March - 9gb so far

This is on a 384k line.

Can I then assume that the IS news server is performing better than in the past w.r.t speed n all?

arg did horrible last month only 38gig from newshosting....

...most i got was out was 68G, but that was from giganews.
