Was wondering if anyone else has been having slow download speeds from the news server lately?

I keep getting full line speed then it drops to about 5 - 8 kB/s then goes up again but mostly it stays in the single numbers.

Lol, the news server is sport lately? :p

Hmm

I started doing the newsgoups thing over the weekend with an IS/Openweb local account. Saturday it was doing the, what I understand to be normal speed, of about 10 kbps on my 384 line. For some reason on Sunday evening though it rocketed op to 30kbps. I understand that it is caching server so I'm figuring fresh new posts (which Sunday's download was) will be this quick.. or was i just lucky?

I tried to get something that was very recent again today (6 hours old) but it was back to the normal 7-10kbps?

Is there some magic config / newsreader combo or should I be happy with 10kbps?

PS. I use grabit

6 hours old? How do you figure?

P.S. There is a forum on newshost.za.net for these questions...

Well news newzleech has it at 3 days currently.. which would have made it 6 hours old when I started.

Thanks for the heads up though, I'll check out newshost.

Edit: Sorry. thought you were referring to sunday's download
