IS on MyADSL

In light of all the complaints re: IS this morning (and yesterday), I feel this topic should be revisited.

I cannot see how IS can proudly advertise on this forum with all the complaints about them - at the VERY least, they should appoint a support person to this forum to address these issues. To not do this shows a disregard for their clients needs.

A little birdy

Well, a little birdy i know, told me that jc@speedy <deleted by="ic" reason="personal attack"/> has been working as a sys admin for IS for quite a number of years. Worries me that this is what IS thinks of its customers.

Funny how the IS guy has dissapeared all of a sudden. I'm on IS uncapped at home and my international speeds are sucking big time...but then again what's new?

Reminds me of MWEB's unibrow commercial :D is IS taking competition with MWEB to a new level or maybe IS is punting MWEB without knowing it

Atleast IS have the balls to take on Telkom, no other ISP has done this. IS takes all risks to provide their customers with truly uncapped, unshaped DSL. IPC b/w is due to Telkom's inability to provide b/w. If you have a problem with the Satellites then go on fibre DSL?

I rather support a company that takes on the monopoly and tries their best to provide a service than sit back and moan and groan. The only reason why IS have these niggling problems is due to the monopoly and its partners.

Agree with Sunnic. IS is taking Telkom on! who else has tried to step up and do this?

I heard about this fibre over DSL. is it any good? suppose it would be over fibre. Besides, are there any providers that offer uncapped DSL let alone over fibre now also?

My opinion is... I am going to support IS, Support the fight against the monopoly!

I'm hoping that legislation will force Telkom to give up the last mile/local loop. Not sure how many of you have had the joys of working with local loop unbundled lines... what a pleasure!

Yes, No one has stood up to Telkom. I wonder where are all these Forum members who had alot to say about IS DSL? Every ISP has their problems no matter how big or small you are. Atleast IS is trying to provide a service.

In any case i have heard that IS have manage to implement 70 Megs of IPC b/w.

So my opnion is now a fact that IS does strive their best to provide their clients with a brilliant service, unlike Telkom who jus say it straight out sorry we cant do it or provide it,then again what does Telkom really provide...NOTHING!

I accussed IS of over selling, but I also commended them on their decision to halt sales. And, I stand by both types of comment.

Being cynical by nature, I have to wonder however if the decision was not spurred by the deluge of bad publicity on this forum. Also, I have to wonder if Telkom suddenly "finding" 70Megs of IPC BW lying around was not spurred by IS's lawyers...

Perhaps you misunderstood the context of my post that you quoted? I was referring to the guy in the banner advert that had a unibrow thing going on which MWEB used a while back in their TV ad campaign. I dont have anything against IS.

I see IS' ads for BSDSL are still floated on MyADSL. See: http://www.mybroadband.co.za/phpads/adimage.php?filename=access-s468x60.gif&contenttype=gif

The hyperlink on the banner ad that links to the signup form also does not mention anything about a suspension of any kind. See: http://www.is.co.za/std_content.asp?ISConstantsID=360&bc_CMMenuID=473&open_CMMenuID=474

Imagine also still advertise BSDSL on MyADSL. See: http://www.mybroadband.co.za/phpads/adimage.php?filename=imagine_1_jan_06_468x60.gif&contenttype=gif

Wakey, wakey.

EDIT: Fixed URLs.

@ic, BSDSL is a vastly different product than AYCE. There is no competition.

PS: Will Dotco only ever resell SAIX-based ADSL ISP accounts?

I poured a whiskey and was going to answer that question for Byrd in the News Discussions section ...

I doubt it has anything to with lawyers. If that was the case then i am certain IS would have brought the lawyers in a long time ago.

And by the way i picked this off the IS website.
*Made available by IS through our VISP and VCP partners. This is a basic IS capped ADSL service (excluding modem).

So i guess Speedy was right that IS do not Sell their capped DSL to consumers.

IS do somethings right. See: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=39432

As mentioned in this thread already, they do compete with their resellers on the BusinessDSL product. I personally think that stinks. The fact that they launched an advertising campaign (which is still ongoing), when they admit in an announcement that they can't squeeze more users on their infrastructure is just silly.

I personally filled in the IS signup form some weeks ago. I still have to hear from IS or a IS reseller about that. I eventually sent of a request for information to MrBeep and he was very helpful so far. So, I know from experience that the form data is not forwarded to resellers. If I were a IS reseller, I would tell them just how much that stinks.

Allyoucaneat......are you from that ISP that advertises "all you can eat DSL for X amount" ?????
