Bit of a noob question but yeah:

I'm looking for a once-off IS 1gb intl + 10gb local account. (The kind that dies after 30days). Something I can pay via EFT.

WA and Axxess don't seem to have those and the OpenWeb site has "Monthly fee" written on it...I want a single prepaid.

Can someone point me in the right direction plz?:)

I got one from WA and then just emailed them before the next month to cancel it.

Hmm. For some reason they don't have a 1/10 account only 2/28gb accounts...weird. Looks like the closest thing available I guess.

OK. New question.

Is it normal that pings on IS are like ~800ms to local sites? SAIX is <50ms.

Not ideal for gaming.

should be so high, but that 800 looks satelitish - sure they dont local over sat. HavocXphere, what do you want to do with the internet, gaming, downloading, surfing etc etc. you may leave out the nda bits :)

To Alaska and back no doubt. If high pings are normal for IS local then thats OK I guess.

Mainly downloading from non-nda sources. ISOs, uunet, drivers etc.

I'm not really stress about the ping...I was just under the impression that IS local only is identical to SAIX local-only quality wise. Guess not...

Seems to have recovered to 600ms now....must have something to do with their shaping times.

I've normally the same local pings on IS than on SAIX, at around 50ms
somethings not right there...

are u sure the site you trying to ping is hosted locally? that might explain the difference between the ping times on the different networks

The ping is bouncing around all over the show. 1200ms - 50ms. All local.

Now I'm really confused. The trace shows its routed over the IS network....but the SAIX server has a normal ping (50ms) while the IS server times out.

I guess this is designated for-downloading-only cap then.

Looks like IS are having some problems...
Its never been like this, IS local was always on par with SAIX
