TLDR: PayU just stopped processing debit orders without notifying me. Their website is broken. Have they shutdown?

I have been paying my monthly DSTV subscription via a debit order/monthly charge to my credit card via PayU for the the better part of the last decade. Today my account was suspended, according to a message when I turned on the TV.

I phoned Multichoice and the agent said that I need to reconfirm my debit order details. Well I didn't have my card near me so I said I will call again later.

I phoned again now, and an agent said that they don't accept debit orders via credit card. I told her that I had set it up via their self-service website which directed me to PayU, and that it had been working all these years, but she insisted that I can only load a debit order on a normal transactional account. Now this puzzled me so I told her I need to check the website, to make sure all is well, before I hand over another bank account's details. I don't want duplicate debit orders.

I checked my CC statement, and sure enough the last debit order did not go off. I went onto the DSTV self-service website, when I click on the "pay now" button, it took me straight to the PayU website which was already pre-populated with my credit card details, didn't even had to login. When I click pay, transaction failed.

When I try going to www.payu.co.za I just get errors. Has PayU gone balls up and closed down without notification?

Well I've done a manual payment now via the Capitec app, hopefully I can watch TV over the weekend without hassles. Will just pay manually every month going forward. But I am irritated that PayU messed up like that and didn't even send an email to say, "hey, we are having issues."

I had this problem this week.

- Recall changing my account to "Cash" payment a few months ago when old site was working
- Paid full amount due via Masterpass
- Multicunts decided to run the PAYU credit card debit order as well.

Although all payments do reflect on my transaction history, but it is annoying that they did that.

Hmm. Now you've got me worried. I need to check my statements to see if they haven't also been debiting whilst I've been paying cash now.

My dad had the same issue as you initially, PayU transaction bounced, and then they disconnected. so we switched to cash on the old site, but i think i did cancel the debit order
