Anyone else experiencing problems with IS adsl currently ?

From 3 sites I'm getting problems connecting via Remote Desktop, connection timeouts or lost connections, in problem solving I notice the ping times to IS dns server 168.210.2.2 is very high on average close to 100ms where it normally was sitting below 30ms.

Download speeds are good speed test now to Cape Town, gives me 3.4 meg down, but latency is high 105ms.

All 3 sites are on IS accounts.

ADSL line's are fine no issues there, if I change over to SAIX no problems, besides the high cost for bandwidth that is.

I would suggest phoning Telkom on 0800375375 and ask them to reset the ports on the DSL lines...

Via IS bandwidth, Leeusigh exchange (CPT)

Pinging 168.210.2.2 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 168.210.2.2: bytes=32 time=31ms TTL=56
Reply from 168.210.2.2: bytes=32 time=31ms TTL=56
Reply from 168.210.2.2: bytes=32 time=33ms TTL=56
Reply from 168.210.2.2: bytes=32 time=31ms TTL=56

Ping statistics for 168.210.2.2:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 31ms, Maximum = 33ms, Average = 31ms

Had similar issue, with high pings and low throughput - changed physical port in the local exchange and issue was resolved - speculation: It seems to me as non Telkom ISP accounts are being placed on over utilised infrastructure and that Telkom is currently placing their own clients on a separate infrastructure – not sure if it is related to the network / exchange upgrades.

I mentioned that SAIX accounts work, so not a dslam port issue. Also this was posted yesterday. Today I'm getting the same speeds as you, so something IS did yesterday broke something and today they've fixed it.

SAIX International - Slow Browsing
SAIX international traffic is experiencing high latency (slow browsing and email) in All areas. Engineers are investigating.
