I am quite frustrated with Rain and wondering if they are still out there. Of course COVID is probably to blame as it is for just about everything that does not work in SA.

A month ago I got a SIM card from Clicks and it says that you can RICA via their website rain.co.za

The website RICA page however seems to only allow you to place an order. Just before placing the order it requires you to acknowledge that you need to RICA which was the object of the exercise in the first place.

I received this message on 6 July "A rain agent will respond to your query within 24-48 hours. Your reference number is xxxxx" however 24-48 hours has not happened yet. COVID hours perhaps?

Has anyone else managed to get support from Rain or know how to RICA online?

I was warned that there are a lot of complaints about Rain service. Should I stick with Telkom who I have been happy with? Am I likely to be stuck with something that I cannot cancel?

Regards,
John

Hi jzl

Apologies for the inconvenience you are experiencing

May you please send me your email address linked to your rain account so that i can sort this out for you.

Hi @rain_mobile

Not sure I want to share my email address here. Thanks for the offer to assist.

I don't yet have a rain account. I would like to register but need to still Rica my card. References 1937944 dd. 6 July and followed up by email 11 July; 2240719 dd 31 July. You will get all the details there.

What would be nice if we do not need to use forums like this as a proxy.

Kind regards,

Update: Rain did get hold of me, thank you. I am up and running having Rica'd.

The process is not completely obvious for those trying to Rica online.

When you select the Rica process you will first need to select a product at the end of which you acknowledge that you need to still Rica.

The second confusing thing is that you need to go through the payment process even if the amount owing is 0. This gets your payment details and takes off R1 as minimum.

Only after that does Rica kick in via a SMS. Yes you need to put your SIM in a device that can receive SMS and process the link they send you. Here you are also kept informed on the process of the Rica process which is a nice touch.

Otherwise relatively painless.

Thanks to mybroadband.co.za I think I may have still be waiting if not for this platform to raise issues. I hope Rain can get their support system sorted.

@"D" “If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.” there's something to that!

Not sure about the euphoria but glad I was able to move forward. Hopefully some of the others were helped too.

Wishing Rain well, one of the better offerings. Still a long way from where we should be for SA to properly move forward.
