Has this taken place yet?

ATM I'm on the net via a WISP in town and AFAIK their international bandwidth goes through IS, and speeds are terrible, while local is quite fast, much faster than what we pay for.

So, does anyone have any info on the upgrade that has or is still supposed to take place?

It was supposed to be completed in Feb 2006, but to date nothing has been done. I'm also fedup with IS and their slow international speeds.

At least IS is trying to make a diffirence to the Telkom situation. I am on IS (OpenWeb)and have good speeds during day and night (better at night though).

I am also with openweb, and during the day I dont even try international without the proxy access, and there were times that I stared lovingly at my news server access during the day....but not any more, during the day time, I only get errors with my news reader, now I have to stare lovingly at my wife dangit!!

This just makes me pissed, they say that they're going to do something, and when they dont, they dont tell anyone.

IMO even though they got some extra IPC bandwidth, they still shouldnt allow more sign ups, because the international is still so fscking slow.

During the day on my 512 ADSL i'm lucky if I can download at 5KB/s

C'mon IS, just tell us what's going on and start doing something bout it!!!

I am capped but wow never had it this bad before, nothing Int opens :(

Remember its raining in joburg, and the air is a bit humid, also there might be some dust particles, dont forget the smog, and I think the wind is a bit strong, also the glare from all the water on the surface is causing a problem. Too many people in the street outside also, their stamping of feet is shaking the dish. There is also a car radio causing interference.

Phew....that should cover the range of their excuses
