Is it just my connection, or did IS just completely Die? I am in Durban on a business uncapped package. Like any business would tolerate this **** if they had a choice...

Mine was down for about 5 minutes - but came back again with super fast speeds.

It`s sporadic.
At work we have 2000 people using the IS backbone.
The last 2 months have not been fun.

No, it has nothing to do with news servers.

My business uncapped tops out at 10kb/s IF i am very lucky - not even close to the speed I am suppose to get when the capping supposedly kicks in. (also Durban)

Ours has been awful - although, to be fair, 50% of the problems is the Telkom Beast.

Is was fine first thing this morning, but has gone to the manure farm since

For those over cap, think it's the capping policy that's kicked in?

Looks like capping policy.

I was disconnected for a few hours using my SAIX account, got back on IS and it was "fine". Then about 20 mins later speed dropped down to 10kb/s. Disconnected again for a while, reconnected, same thing....

Yes I am over my threshold so it's not unexpected, but still, it's a very harsh "Cap" which makes international almost useless.

Yep - that's "thresholding"

Probably thresholding although IS have notices on friday regarding regarding SAIX network updgrade and some major degrading in some areas.

Are the network notices available on a website somewhere? I've had a look but can't see any? Or are they hidden in a 'customer zone' somewhere?

Why do companies hide there status notices behind logins that only allow customers to see them. The cynic in my says that they don't want prospective customers to see the reality until they sign up...

As a company have good service, be honest when its broken, be proud of what you do. If your service is poor and down a lot, feel the pain of having to announce that publically - maybe it will focus your mind on having good service.

just go to www.noticaboard.saix.net and press enter when it asks for name/pass. Mine allows me through.

Just tried downloading now, seems I am back to normal speed. Weird... but not complaining

Sandman30s, I know a few people who've dropped IS and who have gone for MTN fibre. They say it's like chalk and cheese - there's no comparison, MTN is far better than IS.

I would also like to know that.

And do they cap you on a uncapped account, ive got an uncapped account, and the some happenend to me on hte weekend, and since then no connection could be made

Can't wait for the day fibre is affordable to the home user. Will drop Telkom and IS like a bad habit for all the years they've been screwing us.

With Telkom i get 400k but now i put this IS account im sitting below 5k

according to IS, they did have a problem +- a week ago but they have resolved that issue.
