So calling in support today because my DSL download speed is awful, and the person on support said that Telkom will phase out the DSL service *at some point in the future*, and if we want to continue using uncapped internet we'll be forced to shell out around R900 a month for LTE uncapped along with our telephone.

Is this true? Has anyone else been told this?

Darn, that is unfortunate to hear. When will this be happening? R900 a month is pretty steep!

It's becoming common lately. They will force you to switch to LTE or the FLLA Phone at some point.
Usually if your area experiences cable theft, they don't replace it and tell you to switch to one of their wireless products.
Rather start looking into alternatives.

Yes, due to the extreme high copper cable theft and cost of cable replacements, this is true.

Do you guys have any date for a deadline which DSL will be be dropped entirely?
Depends on your area.
They do not maintain their copper infrastructure, so probably 2025 latest it will become unusable for a majority.
